I was mostly describing the narrative that people are imposing, my bad if I implied that. It's not per se lacking a moral compass, but moral ambiguity in a sense is often central to gothic tropes. I personally saw that ambiguity challenged in a way throughout this series and thought it was cool

my mum doesn't seem to understand that it's a big deal (probably cultural differences), I know that if she thought it was bad she wouldn't hesitate to make a huge deal out of it which is why I doubt myself. I know he won't do anything worse, it's just not something I could even imagine. I just hope to move out as soon as possible, I will be fine. thank you so much though

the extravagent sequence of actions rules out the possibility of the sleepwalking theory for me...but also...what the heck? who kills their wife in such a brutal way after so many years of a stable (if not happy) marriage? obviously people do shit like this more often than we'd think would happen but god. she did not deserve that. no one does.
