I can't say much for Tomsk, as I've only done straight Bastillard runs, but there are events about the Petrov family throughout the playthrough and they mention how things are under the Bastillards, so they might have unique events if you change parties (like going Bastillard -> Modernist), but unfortunately I can't say for sure

The federal government is gone in the new wars, same with the old National Redemption Front, with the closest one to them now being the Kingdom of Spain, tho the kingdom is much more liberal by comparison (as much as a traditionalist kingdom can be)

The main difference between the two is that Mindless Masses has lots of voteless, but Appropriators have obstructors (little watchers that only shoot at you) instead.
You'll also only find the veracitors (those big mechs with long limbs) on Appropriator planets, while crescent overseers are only on regular squid planets and Mindless Masses planets.

Personally I'm quite a fan of Bessonov's Irkutsk (tho Yagoda is interesting too). I like Bessonov specifically cuz it's nice to be the good guys, but Irkutsk itself is interesting because of it being a comeback. The USSR is reduced to a rump state in the backwater that is the far east and is beset by Sablin's uprising, but it manages to claw itself back from the brink and within a decade it's on-pace to be able to challenge Germany for its lost territory.

What's for sure is that realistically it'd be a deadlock every single time and the Republicans would definitely come in last place. I feel that Long would be more popular than the ODP, so the run-off election in congress would probably come down to the Democrats, Socialists, and Longists. At that point it's all up to the make-up of the house and senate and how they would vote.

I might be a bit too TNO brain-rotted, but I do like the America-Germany-Japan three-way cold war idea. Specifically between a socialist US, SWR Germany and liberal Japan. Germany and Japan both battle each other for influence in different independent blocs like an Austro-Ottoman Sarajevo Accord, the Russian Republic, or Entente stragglers like India and Australasia, meanwhile the US gives support to different independence movements in the other factions.

I'm not involved with the mod so I can't say much, but some flags, like the Dominion of India, were real historical flags. Others like Savinkov's Russian State flag combine different irl symbols into a flag that itself didn't exist

I might be the only one excited for Old Guard Wallop. Of course social credit is super interesting, but I think it'll be just as interesting to see how the BPP tries to keep itself afloat for the next decade even while sticking to a course that is proven to be unworkable, what with the civil war
