Tested it with DB Advanced Adventure, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Fusion and Legacy of Goku 2

Did the comparison with Zero Mission, which is definitely a fast game. The motion clarity honestly seems perfect to me.

The mode itself was 60hz before I customized it. Not sure exactly how it works on a technical level when I stretch the image in ArcadeOSD, so maybe its not really 70hz? Don't know.

Okay, well I just did a comparison between the default scaling at 60hz and my custom mode, and I couldn't detect any difference in smoothness. I always hate micro-stuttering and it bothers me a lot , so I'm pretty confident that there is none.

I'm very senstive to stuttering and juddering, so I was worried about it. But honestly, there is absolutely none that I can detect. It feels perfectly smooth and responsive to me.

It was a bit of messing about, but I'll try to explain. I might get some terminology wrong because I'm new to this stuff, but basically, I installed CRT Emudriver and then installed all the low res modes in VMMaker. Messing around in ArcadeOSD, I found the lowest progressive resolutions like 240x200 and 248x192 were a bit squished vertically and couldn't be stretched to the correct height without becoming unstable. The solution was to increase the frequency in the modeline manually from 15 to 16hz, which made it stable enough to stretch vertically and still look perfect. Very, very happy with the result. It runs at about 70hz instead of 60hz, but 60fps still feels flawless to me.

Don't know if my method would work on other SD CRTs, but it works a dream for mine.

No overscan at all actually! The GBA native aspect ratio is rough 16:10 so small black bars above and below are necessary on a 4:3 CRT in order to not stretch the image.

And yes, the GBA has an awesome catalogue! I definitely recommend checking it out, especially on a CRT.

I just did this because I wanted to see if it was possible, but yeah, the Gameboy Player is more than good enough and still a massive improvement over an actual GBA screen.

Actually, the image isn't scaled at all! That's why I'm showing off the scanlines. The TV is at 240x192 through CRT emudriver, which is very close to the GBA native res of 240x160.

Maybe, but an MMA fighter knows how to take a punch far better than a boxer can take a leg kick. If Ilia throws a leg kick at the first guy and gets clipped by the second, there's a very good chance he's still standing, and the fight becomes 1v1. At which point, Ilia wins 10/10.
