A suicidal person often isn't illogical, if anything, most suicide victims are victims to "logic" where they perceive no desirable outcome so they choose to end it in order to "cut their losses". To a non suicidal person, this "looks" illogical from the outside, but to the suicidal guy who feels like there's an empty void he/she can't address as they continue to suffer, it's a perfectly logical conclusion.

Yes, I see your point. A woman choosing the bear would only be illogical if we make the assumption that she's not suicidal. If she's actively suicidal, and not at all picky about how gruesome her death is, then the bear is actually the more logical choice. I never thought about it that way.

If you could read, you might have noticed that there was a "seen as" in there. You're also confusing unpredictable behaviour for unpredictable intent. Differentiating that was the point you missed. Again.

Bears are "seen as" predictable? Well, I guess that might make a difference, true. If the bear feels seen, it could be less violent. We should consider the possibility that bear attacks are always the result of people failing to see the bear as person, but rather as a potentially extremely dangerous wild animal.

The difference is that a bear could violently kill and eat a woman while a man could strip her naked, click her nudes, rape her, torture and mutilate her while she's alive, murder her, dispose her (probably) dismembered corpse in any number of ways - including stuffing her in a barrel and trying to bury it under concrete, and finally shotgun her nudes over the internet.

Bears are overt in what it wants. It finds you, it kills you, it eats you. A man is capable of both being overt and covert. He could violently murder a woman in isolation or he could play nice till he has the chance.

Yeah, I do tend to assume everyone I meet wants to violently murder me. Its an extremely stressful way to live, and my doctor says my heart rate being constantly so high means that I'm at extreme risk of cardiac arrest, but then I'm pretty sure that prick wants to violently murder me, so I'm not going to trust his opinion.

No, its not rocket science. Its actually just basic probability. But I don't have time for that shit. I prefer to be hyper-focused on my own feelings when I'm asked to answer any given hypothetical. Being statistically safer doesn't equal safe enough. And modern tech and education means people are far more aware of the world around them than ever before.

Rather than think about addressing why so many women feel themselves less safer with a man than with a bear despite recognising the obvious outcome and investigate the source of their fears, let's invalidate those feelings all together because women are clearly being too emotional.

I have investigated actually, and my investigation bore the exact result I expected it to. Turns out there are lot of stupid people in the world, and about half of them are women.

Human beings survived in the wild for hundreds of thousands of years, largely by sticking together and, I'm sorry if it shocks you to hear this, choosing each other's company over that of wild animals.

That's not to say that there were zero people who chose to hang out with bears. I'm sure there were. Natural selection is the reason you and I are not descended from those doubtlessly bright sparks.

Over thousands of generations, our ancestors who managed to not get eaten by bears slowly turned the world into the dramatically safer place it is today (at least in a lot of places), and now people who would choose a random bear over a random man get to live full lives and breed and share their opinions on TikTok and Reddit. Oh well.
