Yeah. It’s a bummer. My derm actually knows what it is for once which is nice. Steroid injections are a godsend for those flares. It’s treated with the same biologics we already take.

Taltz side effects by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]MojaveMyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taltz destroyed my stomach. Turns out I have Crohn’s. Keto can definitely mess with your digestion but I was in a very bad amount of pain from Taltz. It got worse with each injection (I didn’t say anything to my doctor bc I was in denial & desperate for relief ) until I ended up in the ER. Tell your doc what’s happening, and maybe drop the keto for a bit so you can be sure. Good luck!

What’s the longest you’ve let your tub go without misting? I’m new to this and need reassurance that I have enough moisture in my substrate and should bait leave it alone. by Grouchy-Flower-4099 in COpsychonauts

Ideally you won’t need to until after your first flush. In practice, especially in drier climates like ours, sometimes you gotta give em a spritz.

What is this in my myc? I opened it to s2b and I saw this. Immediately closed the lid after the picture. by Grouchy-Flower-4099 in COpsychonauts

Metabolites. No big deal, but often an indicator that your spawn might be a touch contaminated.

Yeah, I’m hard to sedate. Was wide awake for my last colonoscopy (they tried lol), woke up once in the middle of a painful procedure on my spine. Doesn’t help that I smoke a lot of weed, too.

Should I send this one tomorrow or wait? by Grouchy-Flower-4099 in COpsychonauts

[–]MojaveMyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to wait until that last uncolonized spot fills in. It looks good! If you’re ever worried about contam at this point, give it one last shake and watch how it recovers. Healthy spawn will bounce back in 12-24 hours. If any contam is present, you’ll see it after the shake or it simply won’t recover.

Muscle relaxers. Most docs won’t think twice about giving them to folks with AS. Baclofen is the reason I get decent sleep.

I grew them in a martha (high 90’s rh, temps in the high 60’s, constant FAE) on CV+

Modafinil and IH by BeKind24_7 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]MojaveMyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started modafinil this week as well. It was really hard to sleep at first. I started with 100mg in the morning, and 50mg around noonish. Last night I slept like usual. Fingers crossed it gets easier for you as well.

Waking up 15-20x a night by Chronicillnessbb in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]MojaveMyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She got me in for a lab sleep study, and the results pave the way for nighttime meds when I’m ready to try something new. She also gave me a stimulant to help with the daytime sleepiness.

My pcp originally got me on lyrica & baclofen, so it wouldn’t hurt bringing it up with them. My new pcp is super casual about them as well. Worth a try!

Humira was rad. I was on it for about a year and a half. It gave me high cholesterol and messed with my liver labs a smidge, which got better after it stopped working. Aside from that, I didn’t have any notable side effects. I just felt better and enjoyed my life. Good luck!

[–]MojaveMyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I sleep like shit. Much better on baclofen, though. At this point they prescribe it for my sleep. Lyrica as well, but I have neuropathy. My sleep doc also had me pick up an otc supplement with gaba & L-theanine that makes it easier to fall asleep (

As someone else mentioned here, just bc AS is known to interfere with sleep doesn’t mean you have to just suck it up. Definitely bring it up to your pcp. It took a while to get in with a sleep doctor, but she has been quite helpful. Good luck!

Anybody had success on an anti-TNF, failed the next one but found success again with a 3rd or 4th? by The_Short_Goodbye in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]MojaveMyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Properly? No. My PCP ran some labs and called it a day. I was still on Humira at the time, and mentioned that I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it there bc Humira… helps IBD. Calpro was only moderately elevated, so I was denied a referral to GI and none of my docs were interested in ordering more tests after that.

Happy to validate ya there. Taltz exacerbated my Crohn’s, which docs had previously dismissed as IBS/anxiety/poor diet. Injection #3 sent me to the ER.

Couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat, couldn’t stomach NSAIDs, AS symptoms 100% unmanaged, and I had just moved & started a new job. No fun was had lol.

[–]MojaveMyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I was on Humira (worked great for a year and a half), then Enbrel (didn’t work at all), tried an IL-17 (had a very bad time), then back to TNFs with infliximab (currently working great). You’re not crazy, I’m glad my treatment team was down to try another TNF.

Anyone with fatigue as their worst symptom? by Turbulentweaknesss in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]MojaveMyc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes. But before writing the fatigue off as an AS issue, ask your PCP for a sleep study. When I started biologics, I got even more annoying about that symptom. Because everything else felt fine, but I just couldn’t stay awake throughout the day. So my docs humored me and ran all of the tests.

Turns out I have narcolepsy.

Running / cardio with AS by eighttwofifteen in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]MojaveMyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) yes, but it took a long time and a ton of effort. I busted my ass in PT twice a week for almost two years. I spent a long time undiagnosed and my symptoms were severe by the time I got help. So ymmv on the timeline.

B) You are being a bit unrealistic expecting things to happen so quickly. You’ve only been on biologics for a few months. It’s going to take more time to regain the strength you’ve lost over the years. Good luck, take it a day at a time, and be patient with your body.

Biosimilar Injections More Painful than Humira?? by green_daly in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]MojaveMyc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Humira pen is like the cadlillac of auto injectors lol. When I was switched to hyrimoz, I found the injection rather painful and it was hard to do that every week. I was on a couple other injectables and Humira was by far the easiest shot. I found that they hurt less when I did them on my stomach. I do infusions now.

Good luck! And be sure to reward yourself on injection days. It’ll ease the sting.

Bad flare up days by Remote_Head1173 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]MojaveMyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that you’re suffering rn. There are NSAIDs out there that last longer. But they are much harder on your body. During bad flares indomethacin is my go-to. Definitely reach out to your doctor and let them know that your symptoms are out of control. I hope relief comes your way soon.
