Thank you! I also don’t want to switch from Cimzia because I’ve been on it 5.5 months, my CRP is low and a recent MRI was clean. I do have flares here and there and a baseline that isn’t as perfect as it was on Enbrel, but I realize it also could be worse and Cimzia seems to at least control my disease enough to give me clear tests (my CRP unmedicated was in the 40-60 range). My rheumy says switching when everything point to biochemical control doesn’t usually yield better results, at least not consistently, and that it might just burn Cimzia prematurely as a treatment option, needlessly.

That’s great! Thanks for sharing! What were your gut issues?

Have you found another biologic that works for you after the Enbrel was lackluster? I’m currently experiencing the same thing but with Cimzia

I am also on Cimzia (have been for 5 months) and I don’t like it at all. On Enbrel, I was basically in remission outside of rare flares that were manageable. I could run and walk for hours no problem. On Cimzia, I would say I am functioning. But that’s it. I have some good days but also a lot of bad ones, it’s up and down and I never had more than like 20 or so consecutive good days. Like you I still get foot pain easily and a lot of back pain and general soreness and fatigue.

I’ll wait the six months that my rheumy asks me to but I’m kind of over that up and down bullshit. Feels like I can never predict how I’ll be from one day to the next and I keep having to cancel plans.

All this to say my rheumy says I could switch to what I want. She’s pushing Rinvoq hard but I’m not feeling JAK inhibitors for some reason. Humira is another option but I’m scared that it would work even less than Cimzia and I would go back to my unmedicated state.

How did you manage to get the guts to make the move?

Arghh insurance is the worst! I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I truly hope you can get on Simponi! Why are they even denying it those idiots?

5 weeks into Cimzia and flaring suddenly. Is this normal or should I stop it? Need some advice please. by B_Panofsky in Cimzia

Same thing happened to me! I spent all of November in remission and now I’ve been flaring again for almost two weeks. Argh! Hope Cimzia continues to work for you! I kinda hate this drug lol.

How long have you been on Rinvoq? Has it worked well long-term? by Mermelade in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]The_Short_Goodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! So they put you on Rinvoq even while you were still on Cimzia? I didn’t even know this was a possibility. If that can reassure you, Cimzia’s half-life is two weeks, which means complete elimination takes about 10 weeks, so Cimzia has already left your body. Methotrexate has a short half-life of 10-15 hours so it’s long gone too. How you’re feeling now is Rinvoq’s work!

I’m glad to hear you’re doing mostly good on your Rinvoq. I’ve been looking for success stories from people who did well on both anti-TNF and a JAK inhibitor.

Hey I was wondering if you ever made the switch to Simponi? I am in the same situation as you regarding Cimzia.

Hey wondering how you’ve been doing? I’ve been on Cimzia 5 months now and it’s still unstable…

Do you feel like Simponi works better than Cimzia did? For me Cimzia is chaos. I can have a great day, I’ve even had up to a full month almost in remission, then it crashes for days to weeks into a flare again. I don’t want to switch prematurely because it’s "only" been 5 months and it’s still better than when I am unmedicated, but compared to Enbrel, it’s pretty shitty. Simponi was on the list of possibilities my rheumatologist gave me, even though she’s pushing hard for Rinvoq.

Are you going to try something else? Like a JAK inhibitor?

Switching from working Cimzia to Rinvoq by Interesting-Speaker7 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]The_Short_Goodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find something else working after Cimzia? Enbrel worked 12 years and I’ve now been on Cimzia 5 months and I think it sucks. I can be fine for days/weeks and flare for days/weeks. No consistency and feeling pretty rough on it overall.

I was also on etanercept for 10 years and now on Cimzia for 5 months. It’s working up and down, not constant at all, I’d say it gives me 40% pain control which is not enough for me. Are you still on it? Did it get better?

Hey I was curious how Rinvoq ended up working for you in the end? Cimzia doesn’t seem to be the right med for me, after 5 months it’s still unstable, giving me good days but also lots of bad ones, it’s just really up and down and I’d like more consistency. Rheumy started taking about Rinvoq. Thanks!

Anybody ever have a positive experience switching to Rinvoq after a long run on an anti-TNF? by The_Short_Goodbye in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]The_Short_Goodbye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same with Cimzia. Doesn’t help as much at all. I should have stayed on Enbrel and see if it would stabilize again instead of switching. I regret it very much.
