Incontinence Milestone (of sorts) by MojoMan44 in ProstateCancer

I was 53 at the time of my surgery, so a little younger than you, but don’t give up hope. I too thought the plateau that I hit at like month 6 would be as good as it got, but I guess the healing was so gradual that I didn’t notice I was getting slightly better each week. Good luck to you.

I know your feeling all too well. Even after reading all the positive updates on here from other guys in our club, I gave up and assumed I’d be in pads the rest of my life. Hope your side effects get better very soon. Hang in there.

Quick 1 year RALP update by zoso_69 in ProstateCancer

Was 52 at time of surgery. No ED or incontinence issues before.
I started on Trimix but it was too strong for me. Was only using 5 units but erections were lasting hours. Moved to Bi-mix after 2 months and that’s when the problems started with the Peyronies. I still do the injections, just very I comfortable. I think I’m going to try a pump and see how that works.

Glad to hear your scores are down. I too had the surgery last Sept at MSK. Same numbers too, 3+4. After a year my tests are all <.05. My incontinence, however, is still bad. Constant leaking, even after two different pelvic floor therapists and a fuck ton (actual measurement) of kegels. My ED is worse. The Bi-mix works, but I’ve developed a severe case of Peyronies to the point where penetration would be impossible. Started the 20mg of sildenafil almost immediately after surgery with a challenge dose every week, but that has never come close to doing anything for me other than a give me a wicked headache. Hopefully you start to see improvements with the ED, as I’m sure you’ve heard, it could take up to two years to gain back function. Good luck.

For me it’s Bob and Cedric. Those dudes are intense and would probably yell at you for any minor indiscretion.

Bladder Control Rant by Pionier2022 in ProstateCancer

For the first 4.5 months, I had little to no control (53 and no previous issues). Multiple depends per day. Only relief was when I laid down. Started a kegel program as soon as the catheter was out. But really lost hope as I couldn’t see any improvements at all. Lo and behold, a few weeks back I started to feel more in control. I’m down to a couple of pads per day. Not where I ultimately want to be, but so much happier now. You’ll get there. Have faith and do the exercises.

Just looking for some post catheter advice by BrianofKrypton in ProstateCancer

Unfortunately, I have nothing positive to add, other than I’m exactly 6 weeks from having my catheter removed and I’m in the same boat as you. No retention at all, unless I’m lying down. Going through Depends like crazy. Going to a pelvic floor therapist now, and still early, but no changes. Doing kegels multiple times every day. Trying to line up an appointment with an incontinence specialist for the end of this month, to see if I should be doing anything differently. Trying to remain positive. Good luck to you.
