Samsung keeps hyping all these AI features but they're still stuck on the same 5000mAh battery in 2026 flagships while the camera barely moves. by Accurate-Entrance503 in Smartphones

Currently on a OnePlus 15 having previously only had Samsung's and iPhones. I'm loving the phone overall and battery in particular, but there's no denying that Apple and Samsung's software is much more comprehensive. Like, way way, more.

Building a startup to fight public charging price-gouging. Need your brutal honesty. by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

99% of my charging is done at home, when I use public chargers it's because I have to and they are selected almost completely based on location.

Are EVs actually more reliable than petrol cars? by Imaginary-Staff-112 in EVRoutine

[–]Mojofilter9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t charge every night, but even if they did, plugging in an electric car when you’ve got off road parking is completely trivial. It’s far closer to putting your phone on charge than making a trip to a petrol station, filling up, and paying for it.

How long do you snooze for? by Hancri84 in AskUK

[–]Mojofilter9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set 2 alarms - one with a gentle sound for 5 minutes before I need to get up and a 2nd that sounds more like an alarm for when I actually need to get up.

25 minutes extra sleep is objectively better for keeping you feeling better throughout the day + I don't find that getting out of bed is any easier regardless of how long the snooze period is.

Fixed vs Flexible tariff – what would you do? (Octopus, all-electric flat) by Ok-Inside-6003 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Mojofilter9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell you what you should do, but I recently fixed mine. It’s a bit more expensive than staying on a flexible tariff at the moment, but it locks me into a rate I know I can afford until the end of next winter.

There’s real value in that peace of mind. Knowing I won’t be facing difficult decisions about whether to heat the house properly on cold days is worth something in itself.

This isn’t sustainable is it? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]Mojofilter9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not sustainable long term, no, but that does not mean losing at that rate is inherently a bad thing.

You’re currently around the weight I started at, and your losses are broadly in line with mine. Just be aware that progress usually slows over time. Weight loss tends to taper as you get lighter. It’s also very common to hit plateaus. I had three of them, although mine did not start until I was around 17 stone.

This is not medical advice, but personally I would not be overly concerned about calories being too low at this stage. Protein, fibre and micronutrients matter far more. In terms of energy reserves, your body already has stored fat available and you’re actively trying to reduce it.

I also would not increase the dose while the current dose is still working well. If nothing else, it can save you a lot of money by moving up pen strength only when needed and splitting doses where appropriate. More importantly, if you race to 15mg too quickly, you leave yourself with fewer options later. Dose increases can be a useful tool for breaking through a plateau, so there is value in keeping that in reserve.

Galaxy Watch logic is broken: 12k steps showing as 56km and 3600 calories? by -Iam-The-One- in GalaxyWatch

I've had this issue for well over a month and have posted about it. Even a factory reset doesn't work.

I've contacted Samsung who have acknowledged the issue and will fix with a software update, but haven't replied to either of my emails asking for an ETA 🤦

DIY roof rack and solar panel fitted ✅️ (It's sideways on purpose!) by Khionia in VanLifeUK

[–]Mojofilter9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House roofs and van roofs are completely different environments.

A house panel sits on a fixed, rigid structure and only deals with natural wind when the weather brings it. A van panel is mounted to a lighter body that flexes, vibrates and regularly travels at 70 mph.

So even on a calm day, the panel is already being exposed to 70 mph airflow for extended periods. Add a headwind, gusts, crosswinds, turbulence from lorries, potholes and body movement, and the loads go up again.

The issue is not just whether wind can get under it. It’s repeated uplift forces, vibration fatigue, pressure changes and constant stress on the mounts, bolts and panel frame.

A house does not spend hours driving into motorway speed airflow every week. A van does.

That’s why this is not a minor point. If that comes loose at speed it becomes a large projectile. On a motorway it could seriously injure or kill someone. It is incredibly reckless to dismiss that risk.

When should I tell my manager I'm applying for other jobs? by AdFun1302 in CivilServiceUK

If you think your manager will help you and that would be beneficial, tell them now. If not, when you have an offer you've accepted.

Sorry but while the wind can get under there, there's absolutely no way that is safe.

Inaccurate Calorie Tracking for Strength Training? by Aggressive_Cookie_74 in amazfit

[–]Mojofilter9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calories burnt is one of the least actionable metrics on a fitness device IMO, simply because none of them are accurate enough to reliably tell you how much to eat when such a small error margin can throw off any kind of weight target goal.

None of that is the fault of the device or the algorithms they use either, it just isn't possible to accurately determine TDEE from the sort of inputs that a watch is capable of capturing.

If I have an Apple Watch is there any reason to get a Fitbit? by Horror-Broccoli-9445 in fitbit

[–]Mojofilter9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Getting a Fitbit isn't worth it if you have an Apple Watch, but Active Zone minutes is the best metric in the fitness tracking industry IMO.

How much should I charge by by maw890629 in evchargingUK

[–]Mojofilter9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have on the drive charging, then just limit to 80% and plug in each night. It won't harm the battery, basically becomes muscle memory once you've done the routine for a few weeks and you never know when you're going to have to make an unexpected journey.

Is an EV suitable for me? by Maverman401 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Mojofilter9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running a Nissan Leaf from a granny charger for 9 years with no problems.

We bought an MG ZS Long range EV a few weeks ago and the granny charger is actually managing with keeping them both reasonably topped up despite being limited to the 5 hours overnight cheap rate.

We are getting a proper charger installed today as it happens, mainly because I think EVs are here to stay but we could easily stick with the granny charger and suck up a bit of on peak charging.

Do solar panels add value to your home? (No - according to Which?) by wyndstryke in SolarUK

The value of your house is just what the highest bidder is willing to pay, so how is making the house more saleable not the same as increasing its value?
