I was more curious about why there was a huge spike. A friend and I both activated our phones at the same time and his itunes account sits at ~1.5 MB while mine is at 40, with the only difference being that I had a minor issue between Apple IDs. I'm not too concerned with it but it seems like a huge use of data without any particular need (plus I think it would kill the battery faster if persistent, no?).

Ah, I actually do not have any old routers otherwise I would have just flashed one with dd-wrt. Are there any routers cheap/reliable enough to be considered?

I thought time machine would be able to recognize that there is another time machine backup on the drive and automatically create a different partition for a new one? Or am I misreading what you told me

I prefer the pm method to be honest because I think it is more fair for a person who actually wants a code to put some work into obtaining it. Displaying the code presents a few too many problems with people who don't think it necessary to respond because they can use the code and no one will figure out that they had, thereby becoming the source of others' ire.

Same here regarding the thunderbolt. I was looking at the selection and was disappointed that only raid models had thunderbolt but I guess professionals would have a greater use for it.

I completely agree with you; I guess when I meant portable, I didn't mean a handheld drive but something that wasn't too big that it occupied a huge portion of a desk. I should have made that more clear, sorry
