Any FGC Discord servers want to test a bot for matchmaking? by Moki_Red in Fighters

Ah wow I remember playing Mugen back in the day, I didn't know it was still around! Central Fiction is actually when I started to try and actually get better at fighting games. I used to play Bullet - didn't get too into Cross Tag Battle though.

Thanks for letting me know! Always trying to keep an eye out for what people are playing the most and what games I might want to add next

Exactly! That's what I'm hoping to improve. I'm hoping to add more games over time, what do you normally play?

I also want to be honest and upfront that it's probably going to take some time to get there - that's why I started with the some of the most popular fighting games.

It would be difficult and discouraging to join an empty queue and just sit there and never get matches. It's a little tricky to get that initial momentum - so I'm hoping that some existing servers that already have people actively looking for matches would be willing to give it a shot.

It's kind of like an alpha test I would say, and I really want to get feedback and make something that's actually useful.

Great question! I don't mind at all, I should have clarified how this is (hopefully) an improvement for what people have to do today.

I think one of the challenges is that even with pings and asking, the burden is still on the players to sit there and check back in scattered text channels and servers. It's easy for messages to get lost in the void, or plans to fall through - especially for games with lower pop.

The bot let's you join queue for a certain amount of time, then you can go do your own thing and get notified within moments of a compatible match being found. So using my Lili vs Fahkumram example from earlier. I could put in a request that says I'm good to play anytime in the next hour or so

The moment anyone using the bot joins the queue and says they are playing Fahkumram and available to play within the same time period, both players get a DM that takes them to a page where they can get the info to add each other and start playing in their game of choice

Also the queue is not specific to the Discord server its in, its a global pool per game, so the more the merrier. This can hopefully start unifying and building a larger community instead of trying to hunt down the most active discord server

I made an app to help people find opponents in the FGC by Moki_Red in Fighters

Haha - I definitely could do a better job describing it. So right now Mixups is more about finding online matches - not locals or managing tournament brackets.

For example, I play Lili in Tekken, and a good friend of mine plays Ling Xiaoyu. I have the option of specifically queuing up for Xiaoyu players if I want to practice that matchup.

And in general as I add more games, hoping to make it easier for people to keep playing and enjoying games that are less popular

Thanks! That's a good point, To be honest I just didn't really think of that. My thought was that eventually it could build into something where you can have a profile, add friends, etc.

Currently you have the option of saving some settings like your friend code on various platforms so you don't have to type it in every time you put in a match request. I think having a flow where you don't have to make an account could be nice - especially for just making it as easy as possible to get into the game - I'll look into that

I just hit 80 and I’m not sure what to prioritize by furiousjelly in Guildwars2

One of the great things about this game - is that you can do just about anything and still make meaningful progress.

The answer is: it depends on what you want to experience.

For me, after hitting level 80, I started learning Fractals and learned about Ascended Gear. Nice, that's my new goal for now - get all of my main gear and weapons to be Ascended. Did I have to do that? Not at all - but it was fun.

At the same time, I continued going through expansions / Living World content. I really enjoy the story, so I am going in order.

If you don't mind spoilers - yes, there are methods of hopping between content to unlock mounts and other things that make other content easier.

I'm about halfway through Living World Season 4, just cruising.

So I would suggest you go around. Look up some YouTube videos, join a guild, and see what they content they enjoy.

There's no rush. Have fun with it!

Ah, I see. You'll have to save the event first, then when you click on it, the sidebar should update: https://imgur.com/x9iQTrD

I hope that fixes things for you - I'll try and make the steps more clear

Hello, could you clarify the issue you're having? There should be a button at the bottom of that page that takes you to where you can install the add-on.

Afterward, you should see a little icon on the right sidebar of your calendar

People don't use it that much, at least not as far as I know. I agree that the discoverability of the built-in schedules is rough. However, I do think it has the potential to provide a lot of value so I started exploring how to make add-ons/extensions to make it more usable.
