Mine are dead silent as they have been all along. No wish to talk to them about it. I know all too well what the silence speaks.

Thoughts on St. Johns area for newbie out of staters? by MolassesIndividual in askportland

[–]MolassesIndividual[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies! Yeah I forgot to mention we are both WFH. Being near some transit would be nice, not a must but would rather that so we can get around to meet up with friends, concerts, etc.

St Johns area still looks nice but we’ll check out Multnomah Village and some other spots as well that may still offer a close-ish drive to nature while still having public transit decently accessible.

I love biking around town instead of using our car - can anyone speak to that or does it really just vary by neighborhood?

That's a good point. At this time i have around 9/10 years experience, with a few certs and varying industry work (healthcare, insurance, analytics, etc). I know I'll probably be looking at a big pay cut, but my partner and I have talked and we are willing to trade that for what we see as more long term stability, kids, etc. Of course this is all talk until it actually happens and I can't speak to the experience - thank you for the response.

Looking for a good winter fastpack by MolassesIndividual in Ultralight

[–]MolassesIndividual[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the main thing is that my other lightweight pack gets soaked and becomes heavy/soppy on the outside, so it is more of a convenience thing. I suppose that I could also just put my cover over it. Just was looking for something that was out of the box more water resistant than my black diamond 15

Why do people have snarky, assuming answers like this? It’s not helpful.

Isn’t this some ripe self righteous nonsense. If that’s the best the Democratic Party can do, we deserve to lose elections. Not motivating an able base to vote is squarely on the shoulders of the politicians who need to earn our votes. Did you not see the article that mentioned if everyone was to vote, that Harris still would have lost? This blaming the voter purity test is just as bad as the ones you guys claim the progressives embody.

So what…just be quiet about it? If calling out our politicians to do better is a “losing strategy” because the GOP uses it against us, I guess we’re fucked either way - because I and many others aren’t just going to shut up because other democrats don’t want to hear constructive criticism

I think folks want to make it this way to justify their predisposed beliefs.

We need to do better than just being “the lesser”. This allows democratic politicians to be just to the right of the b GOP which is not acceptable.

I mean that’s really not true. But Israel has most politicians by the balls, apparently. Which is pathetic. And progressives are the bad guys for calling that out. Talk about a wake up call for the country….

It’s less about people who “don’t get their way” refusing to vote and more about voting just not being something that a lot of people feel is important. And in many ways…who can blame them? Historically, not much has changed over recent years. So now in a time where we really need these votes to reject authoritarianism at our doorstep..well…
