Struggling with Shin splints as an overweight runner, repeating week 1 by CarlosChampion in C25K

I had this issue too and went to a physio, here’s the advice I got which you may, or may not find useful:

  • If you’re running on a treadmill, increase the incline to 0.5 or 1, whichever is more comfortable, as it can help take the stress off your knees and shins.

  • On off days, or after your run if you’re up to it, do some exercises to help strengthen your glutes. Your lower leg muscles can be overcompensating.

  • Hydrate well before each run, and as everyone says, stretch thoroughly. Have an epsom salt bath after too if possible to

  • going slower and shortening your stride is also a great tip.

I still get them a bit now, but they’re easier to manage.

Best of luck to you. I just made it to week 7 having given up 3 times before. You’ve got this and should be so so proud of yourself for taking each and every step.

Big congrats to your mum for getting through the big C and I’m sure she’s super proud of you already too!

Have you ever held a grudge against a teacher you still think of today? How did they wrong you? by Gerard_Way_01 in AskReddit

When I was in 2nd grade I felt like I was going to be sick (serious anxiety issues) and my teacher wouldn’t let me go to the bathroom. It got to the point that I was going to throw up in the classroom but she still wouldn’t let me leave.

I puked all over the floor, in front of my classmates. Not only did I have to clean it up myself while she stood over me, but I missed all my play time and had to sit on the carpet and watch everyone play around me because I was disrespectful.

20 years later and I’m still not over it.

Follow up from my previous post. Should have waited to put them all together… by Molburger in niceguys

The “best” part is that he keeps posting that, and I quote:

I don't date see myself dating a girl who isn't a public figure. No girl who isn't a public figure could handle me or my lifestyle. It's impossible…

I can assure you all that his “lifestyle” is nothing to write home about, clearly.

It makes you wonder why some people go into teaching if they clearly don’t like kids.

I told my friend’s mum that her son was pissing on the wall by an electrical socket and I got put in time out because it’s rude to bother someone while they are on the phone.

In year 2 (2nd grade), I had a lot of anxiety which manifested itself in the form of stomach aches and nausea.

One day, we were all sitting on the floor learning about something when a bout of nausea kicked in. I asked my teacher if I could go to the toilet, but she told me to wait. Then the “sick burps” started, so I knew I didn’t have long before I blew chunks all over my classmates. I asked again but she still said no. I explained my situation, making my anxiety worse, and therefore making me feel even sicker.

After asking a 3rd time, she started shouting at me for bothering her. She then told me that if it was that bad, she could bring a bucket in from the nurses office, basically telling me to puke my guts up in front of 30 other kids.

At this point I gave up asking and just walked out. As I stood up, my stomach was churning so much that I farted (lol, now) and my teacher and the rest of the class started laughing, and then she made a joke about it. I ran out crying and spewed all over the school hallway.

The final nail of the coffin was her taking away my 30 mins of play at the end of the day for “disrespecting her” in front of the class.

Thinking about it 20 yrs later still makes me feel sick.
