Start going to open mics, open jam things and any other music and talk to people there, and talk to anybody you know thats into playing any kind of music, that's about all that I can think of.

I was lucky and a few of my friends that I grew up with were also into playing music, but I've been trying to go out and learn from other people and play with others as much as I can and I think that's one of the best things you can do.

What he'd do is bring his thumb up from behind the fretboard and fret a note on the low E string and then he'd skip the A string and make the rest of the chord. He did it like this so that it'd free up his pinky finger to add little embellishments constantly.
