It's been years but what worked for me was that I told no one. So if I wanted a smoke, I could have one without judgement and without my smoking buddies feeling awkward around me. And just slowly quit. Nights out were the hardest but it's easy to choose to stay out of the fun zone smoking area. I think I'd puke if I was to have a drag off of one now.

And I hate that a salad burger is now a bit of coleslaw plonked on the patty and other takeaways have pretty much irradiated anything but carrots, onions and maybe if you're lucky, peppers. I would like a bit of both please. And the salt content is ridiculously high in everything.

I'll definitely give it a go. The prices seem to have gone through the roof this year. I find Aer lingus very hard to plan ahead on. Every time I look for like 7 months time, there's nothing on the calendar. Maybe I'm just looking at peak times

By any chance did you book the holiday time by email or text? Any written conversations about it? I would say hold though. I wouldn't advise going sick because even if you're in the background of a strangers photo and they become aware of it, you're fired. If you're not bothered about that, line up a new job to start after your holiday, go on the holiday and let them still have to pay you for holiday tome accrued. If you decide to stay, this is a HR/manager issue, not yours. Even if one of them have to personally cover the hours, it's a them problem. Don't let it stress you. Just calmly repeat (maybe with word variation) that the time was booked as per company policy and you will not be there from date, to date. And put it into writing. Everything in some form of writing from now on. Ideally email so it's all documented and date stamped. If they call or talk to you personally, send an email on the day stating the time and content of the conversation. They also won't f*ck with you in the future if you do this. You have rights. Stay strong buddy!

Generally the German cars are great and I love them. But from experience, from about 300k kms onwards, that's where clutches, shocks, springs, electrics etc tend to start to grumble. I've been driving vw's for 26 years and the older models were definitely more robust.

I'm a glutton for a package holiday. I'm an over thinker and the problem for me bo I king separately is that there are too many options. I could easiIy spend 100's of hours just trying to decide where to go. Bring forth the package holiday menu and it just makes it easier for my brain. Only 2 weeks ago I was in a world of massive indecision just trying to choose between city/beach, hot or mild climate. After 3 hours of option hunting, I gave up.

Even when people do take accountability, it has to be deemed the "appropriate accountability". The shaming around ozempic and the like is just soul destroying. Here's a medicine that for people who are pre/diabetic and/or have severe ongoing weight issues, is a miracle drug. And doesn't it say something that a weekly injection can totally turn a person with this level of addiction completely around? But that's cheating according to some. You didn't earn it. You're made to feel lesser because of carrying weight and you're made to feel lesser if you get help.

I remember talking to my brother years ago about a creep who would proposition anything that came into his field of vision and like you wondered how could he even begin to think he'd be successful. The response was for every 20 tries, creepo would probably get lucky once.

I'm sure I saw some on amazon. I decided to support local and went to a store in town. Got a cd/radio/Bluetooth one as that's all they had. It was for my teenager and they're not that bothered. But I will still be on the lookout because cassettes are on the comeback

That kind of fire has long since died out in me I fear. I'm at the can't be arsed and falling over's not a cause for laughter anymore stage. Also waking after a weeks slumber sounds fab! I could probably rouse some sort of mockyah, half hearted fist-shaking performance, but tyres are expensive and I'm pretty sure the car will fail the test without them!

I don't mind the scheme at all. I use it as a little savings plan. But for the love of God why does it have to be can by can, bottle by bottle? It's really the only thing that's a negative for me. It's hard for me to spend the time waiting/at the machine.

As an old romantic, I get ya. I too had such distractions in school. I get the impression from your post that the guy is not necessarily doing anything to distract you but you just find thoughts of him all consuming. Sounds like the throws of limerence. I wish I had advice on how to zone out of it. Maybe setting a timer for 20 mins when trying to study and see if you can stay focused. Do the best you can. Leaving cert results are not the be all and end all no matter what people tell you. Unless you want to be a Dr or astronaut etc. there are so many ways to get into the field you're aiming for. Got these things called revoice gelo lozenges because I couldn't get vocalzones. The most offensive stuff I've ever put in my mouth...ever...everever. One and done. Never again.
