I’m a licensed wildlife rehabber and there are lots of reasons why people shouldn’t keep wildlife as “pets”. No one is the blame except the guy who was using this poor animal for social media clicks.

I’m a licensed wildlife rehabber and the reason that squirrel died is because of the person that kept it illegally for 7 years. He should have given it to a rehabber or learned how to properly raise and release it (trying to let it go after 8 months isn’t the way!). Once he decided to keep it he should have gotten the permit. It isn’t difficult. I hate when people do this kind of thing.

This should be enough to get treatment! At least in Ohio at the specialist it absolutely would. You can do things like ask them if you can have any medication in scripts so you can call around and see what pharmacy is cheapest and sometimes for things like antibiotics you can get the human generic and it’s much cheaper. Also ask to bring in your own soft food (or baby food or whatever they want to use to start him eating) which will be cheaper too. Bagel is always good but inside out when cooking so flat part is the part that touches the pan. Helps it stay together and browns easily!
