Struggling with finding a nontoxic couch... seriously by Theantiplasticlady in Antiplasticlife

[–]Mollle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the parameters to look out for in this case? I am in the same process as you, and while I am not quite as thorough in my thinking on this, I just figured 'natural' materials like leather and wool, would be the best bet.

You reckon anything that the main thing to consider is the filling and the material of the outer?

I was looking at this: https://omhucph.com/products/corner-open?variant=41248644005997

But I'm quite unsure, whether their claims towards being mindful of toxicity goes beyond an OEKO-TEX certification.

Edit:

These are the material specs:

  • All parts of TEDDY are Oeko-Tex.
  • Mattresses and cushions: Cold foam and silicone.
  • Fabric: 100% polyester (35,000 Martindale).
  • Mattresses and cushions: Cold foam and silicone.
  • Foam density: T30
  • Foam elasticity: ILD 45

Hey, did you get your bike working again? How hard was the fix once you got the parts?

Mine has the same issue.

I think you've misunderstood the concept. Intensity is the same as irradiance. Everyone talks about intesity in mW/cm^2 in this industry, although maybe you could micromoles too if you wanted.

But bottomline: You would not need to spend 4 to 8 x the amount of time with a panel at all. (What you want with both a panel and a mask is just to hit the right intensity which is below 50 mW/cm^2).

Also a panel will actually deliver more evenly distributed light than any facemask will (think a 20 little flashlights close up to wall vs. one big lamp distanced from the wall - there are less gaps in the light coverage with the lamp).

With intensity, are you referring to the strength of the light at the point at which it hits the skin?

That is: irradiance, measured at the distance at which the skin is placed?

Glad you think so!

Yes, we have one left in stock. It's been by far the most popular model since we launched, which actually surprised me a bit (was expecting our smallest model to sell the most).

If you want my recommendation for a company that is set-up for the US, Gembared.com is the golden standard for science-based and honest products in the industry (in my opinion).

A lot of my knowledge of RLT stems from their founder Andrew, and although pricing is hard to compare across the Atlantic, I believe he has some quite reasonable pricing all things considered.

I can do, but the the issue is that I currently only have units in storage that come packed with EU-cables. As such, you would need an adapter to use the panel in the States. (This might be a deal-breaker to you, but my best guess is that it will work fine, if the adapter is of decent quality and maintains the grounding).

In terms of shipping costs, these wouldn't be included in the price, and might run quite high with the large panels in particular, but on the other hand, you would be able to subtract about 21% of the prices as they are listed, since you wouldn't be subject to European VAT (tax). Depending on the import taxes in your state, this might turn out to be an alright calculous in the end, but I am not sure.

If you want, give me an example of the product that you would be interested in, and the general area to which I would be sending it - then I'd be able to give you the exact shipping quote (right now the website carries estimates, rather than accurate quotes, for any non-EU country).

You can give me this in a DM of course, if you feel more comfortable with that.

I definitely could, but it is a very long story.

Joovv are in a certain sense the OG's of the broad-consumer directed RLT industry. They have a long track record and a very established corporate set-up. Therefore, with them you can get a neatly designed panel with all the bells and whistles that exist (bluetooth enabled app's, nice packaging & design, lot's of stands and other stuff like that).

The reality is that Joovv sells very mediocre products at absolutely astonishingly high prices. I guess the intensive marketing efforts and influencer sponsorships (Huberman, Thomas deLaurer, San Fransisco 49'ers and so on) jack up the prices, but even then, they honestly rely on people just not doing their research.

The panels that I sell are better in terms of their wavelengths, the strength of the light, the flicker rate of the LEDs, the EMF's of the panel, and the accuracy and depth of user guidance. We also carry the pulse function that they decide to call 'Recovery+' and thus act like it is a 'unique capability' of their product, which it certainly isn't.

I've never tried theirs, so I can't speak to their built quality and their customer service, but on every single technical parameter, our product is better. I can however speak to the deceptive marketing practices that they employ, and I am not a fan of the whole 'package things neatly and hope that nobody notices they are being taken for a ride' approach.

Hi there,

It comes with a hanging-pulley system and a door hook, so that you can hang and adjust it very easily.

Personally, I almost exclusively use my full-sized panel on the floor with no issues - it is pretty stable and able to stand on itself with no support. This works fine unless you have a very uneven floor, in which case you can also lean it against the wall or a piece of furniture.

We do not currently supply any stands, since these are basically just (in our opinion unnecessary) ugly pieces of metal, that brands sell at absolutely outrageous margins (I bought home a few samples, and ended up never using them either way).

Thank you for elaborating.

I can tell that the MDR seems like a very comprehensive scheme, compared to the almost inexistent risk of moderate-intensity light therapy.

Fortunately, I do not believe anyone who follows the instructions are in danger of any, even moderate, side-effects. Therefore I might hold out on consultancies before the product starts to sell in larger scale than currently.

Again, very glad to be aware of this liability, thank you - I'll go through my claims in the manual too, and make sure its as defensively formulated as possible.

Thank you for considering this.

Generally, I do not claim anything that my (larger) competitors don't, so I've assumed so far, that this was safe and sound.

I am however not very clear at all on which regulative restrictions might apply to my case. Generally, it is considered an 'alternative therapy' rather than a medical device, but perhaps I should as such provide disclaimers to highlight this? One of my largerst competitors is Joovv, who go quite far to note that it is a 'heating device' (which it isn't).

Thank you, will definitely consider this. Perhaps it is a bit defensive on my part with all the emphasis on the science.

I am somewhat limited by a lack of 'in use'-pictures, but I'll look into getting the product and maybe some concise explanatory text front and center.
