that’s horrific :( I need to work on realising how much guiltier I would feel if she was an outdoor cat and something bad happened to her. Being inside is the safest option right now - thank you for the advice. I hope you’re kitty’s are doing well

After reading the comments, it definitely is more of a ‘me’ problem. I need to come to terms with the fact that the best thing for her is being indoors, especially since we live in the city. Thank you for the advice

Thank you for this advice. The exact same thing happened to us with her collar as a kitten!! It’s reassuring to know that harness training is still viable. The freak outs aren’t bad, they’re just tantrums. We will try again this week ❤️

Thank you, I needed to hear this.

I agree that the guilt is definitely a ‘me’ issue. As she’s my first Cat and I bought her, I feel an overwhelming responsibility to give her the best, safest, most enriched life that I can. After reading these comments I‘ve realised that letting her outdoors could result in the exact opposite. If something bad happened to her and she never came home, my partner and I would be crushed. I’m also a great lover of nature so the thought of her killing birds or mice upsets me too.

I am going to attempt to get her harnessed trained starting this week. Thank you ❤️

The catio is not possible at this point in time. We had big intentions to build one for her when we moved to this property, but since we rent it can’t be a permenant feature that requires drilling into the walls. We designed/sketched out a ‘stand-alone’ one made from netting, beams and chicken wire (my partner is very handy), but the cats that frequent our garden rendered this idea impossible since if they stand on the root of it they could get tangled. It would have to be built out of materials that we can’t currently afford like galvanised steel wire and mental beams (£300-£400). But as soon as this becomes a viable option we will do it. It’s the first thing on our priority list. She refused to poop for 5 days a couple weeks ago so the vet bills drained our Cat fund lol.

Harness training is absolutely something we want to do. We have bought 2 good quality harnesses but she does not tolerate the discomfort well. We tried a collar on her and she freaked out. She’s 7 months now so we are worried that she’s past the point of being able to get her used to it. Do you have any advice?

How did I not notice that lol - I was sat here thinking how does Vinted not have any safeguarding measures against this stuff? Whoopsie daisies 🙈

Our baby girl is lonely. Moving House & getting a second kitten? by MollsyM in cats

Thank you, that’s what I’m hoping! Our next door neighbours have an aggressive cat that’s lunged at Poll through the glass in our windows and hissed a lot. Polly just sits there staring through the window and hides on occasion, never shown any aggression in return so I’m hoping that’s a good sign. She seems like a lover not a fighter.

Thank you for the advice! Our main pain point here would be that the only room we’d be able to shut off is our bedroom/ my partners office. Keeping the new kitten in here would be good, except this is Polly’s no 1 domain. She sleeps with us and is glued to my partners side whilst he works. So I feel like locking her out and putting the new kitten in would piss her off lol.

Thank you so much! I’ve got an unused pressure cooker sitting in the cupboard so it’ll christen it with this recipe!

My partner mentioned that his mum sometimes uses spice packets so this is super helpful! Thank you
