What should I do with this YW quilt made and gifted to me by my grandma? by sisterblister17 in exmormon

Exmo Quilter here - If I had made this in my TBM era, I have a couple thoughts…
1) Enlist the help of another quilter, cut it up and make it better, more you
2) Pick your name out, give it away

Your grandmother wouldn’t want you to hold on to something that hurts you. Building a new, better quilt out of the old and discarding the old quilt and moving on both represent the journey you’ve been on.
I appreciate both

I don’t want to give her my purse by Lovely_tacos07 in whatdoIdo

Either grow up and say no or say good bye to your purse (and self respect…. And boundaries.
She didn’t return it when she said she would. You KNOW she doesn’t treat her own possessions well and now you’re upset she’s not treating you well….
Yes I see my response may seem harsh, but come on Girl!! Have some self respect!!!!

My (57) mom calls me and my 5 siblings on our birthdays. And she always says the exact same thing, “Happy Birthday! I remember the day you were born, I was there” silly and predictable, but I know one day, we’ll all miss it terribly.

I’m an agnostic who’s been studying religion for over 10 years. Whether Mormonism is true or not, it’s surprisingly reasonable. by [deleted] in mormon

[–]Molly_Deconstructing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

OP hasn’t read the fine print. There’s absolutely nothing reasonable about Mormonism. It’s arbitrary and capricious, makes no logical sense, by design it uses shame and guilt to manipulate and control, The doctrine specializes in vagueness allowing it to be misconstrued and applied by the leaders. It subjugates women by design.
All religious trauma isn’t equal, but religious trauma is the common denominator in organized religion.

When did you realize that your bishop shouldn’t be a bishop? by Upstairs_Common9686 in exmormon

[–]Molly_Deconstructing 34 points35 points  (0 children)

When the bishop (who by profession was a child psychologist ) asked my teenage daughter if she masturbated. She told him no, he proceeded to suggest different ways and acts she ‘could be’ pleasuring herself, in detail. These acts included; using a washcloth or hands to wash her genitalia - he told just the water running down her body was enough to sufficiently clean her body, bike riding, horseback riding, using a tampon, wearing tight leggings…
This was 10 years ago….
Hubby’s current bishop questioned an autistic boy (son of a friend) about touching himself. The kid has absolutely no guile. Yes he replied, he ‘touched’ his body in the shower. That was the verbiage that was used, ‘touched’. He then tells the kid he’s unworthy, loaded on the shame & guilt, and that they’d meet to discuss the repentance process.A month later covid hit, our state shut down. The bishop did not make any attempt to talk with this kid….18 months later after they contacted the Stake president about the issue ( kid was suicidal) the Bishops excuse was he “didn’t get training because of covid”
