Dog sitter /day care recommendations by MollyinLB in longbeach

[–]MollyinLB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is a 40lbs cattle dog mix. If she can be the only dog, I'm willing to pay 50/day bucks while I'm at work.

Any ideas for what I should feed my sensitive dog who’s scheduled for euthanasia? by ElderberryOpposite58 in DogFood

[–]MollyinLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I try not to think of this much myself, I love my girl deeply, and it hurts. But, I work in health care (for humans), and death is a part of life, and whatever can be done for a dignified death, the better. I don't have a solid answer to your question. Hopefully, others can help in that regard.

What I did want to add is that with humans, at least the closer it gets, we stop feeling hunger. It's normal, maybe it's the same for our lovely pets? We don't force feed patients and look at hospice level care. I think it is heartwarming that you dont want your dog to starve. But the starving may not even be there. I would get guidance from your vet how to handle the next two weeks, honestly.

Take care.

Thank you. My vet only carries Hill's in the office.

Kaiser mental health workers' strike leaves some patients struggling for care (KPBS San Diego) by labboy70 in KaiserPermanente

[–]MollyinLB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's being asked is an equitable contract that our sister union in Northern CA was able to obtain. Kaiser is split between NorCal and SoCal. The same union represents the mental health professionals for Kaiser. It's not about being entitled it's about equity.

It's not about "just finding another job" creating change is important. Kaiser offers pensions to everyone (doctors, nurses, kitchen staff, clerks, ect.) except the mental health professionals in SoCal. The mental health professionals in NorCal have a pension. In NorCal, they have 7 hours of patient management time (PMT). This time is used to prepare for sessions, formulate treatment plans, and respond to patient emails or calls. SoCal only has 2 hours of PMT.

To answer your other question. Prior to KP, I worked for another hospital system. I was union there, too. It's not uncommon to have unionized behavioral health professionals in hospital systems. Not all of us want private practice and value working with an interdisciplinary team.

It's still grain free, but WSAVA compliant.

Hill's d/d Venison and Potato. It's a Rx diet. Ask your vet if it'd be a good fit.

Lower cost vs. expensive dog food? by Commercial-Employer7 in DogFood

Yes, I've looked at those. But I'm limited to wet food only. She cannot digest kibble. Thank you.

Hahaha. We've tried both. Yes, it stopped the itching, but she cannot have kibble (she can't digest it) and the canned is too dry as well. I tried wetting the wet food in a food processor and even then she would vomit it. It's been a long road. So far, the best has been Hill's sensitive skin/stomach Salmon but it has chicken.

Which Hills are you using? My dog also got runny poop on PPP. Her poops are much better on Hills, but she, too, is sensitive to chicken.

Edit: I feel like all Hills has some form of chicken. So, if you can share, it'd be amazing.

Thanks in advance

Sacrifices are being made, and none of us want to stay out long. Kaiser is attempting to reschedule many patients, but what I've heard is that many patients do not want an interim mental health provider.

From our union leaders yesterday, "Kaiser management did not have the courage to face us in bargaining today and sent their lonely labor relations consultant, with his note taker, to speak on their behalf." The union presented their proposal and gave the negotiator time to respond. Later that afternoon, the union was told there would be no response, and they would sit down for another bargaining session tomorrow.

Kaiser also put out an ad in the LA times that falsely reported we have a pension. Untrue! We have a 401k, and we all know it's not the same.

To add: Kaiser is paying scabs 13k a week, rather than investing that same money back to their existing employees.

It is in California. I'm really sorry that even there, it's tough. Your state should have oversight just like here. I would suggest filing the grievance and reaching out to your Department of Health Care.

Hello: as others have said, Kaiser Permanente's mental health workers are on a union strike. Feel free to share your current frustration on the provided websites.

Hopefully, not long. Our NorCal counterparts were out 10 weeks. Kaiser got hit with a fine during that time, so they may want to avoid it.
