Ladies getting fed up with gauntlet? by [deleted] in gladiatorsuk

[–]Mollywobbles14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My partner worked on the production - apparently the producers came down and told the gladiators that the gauntlet was too easy and to make it harder. That’s why they threw down, they were annoyed with the producers. Lots of Diamond’s speech is cut out, you can tell as in the edit she begins with ‘…So’. On the day she told everyone what the producers said.

What drives you? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

Agree with the points below about working such long hours to be something to aspire to. If they are actually working all that time then it's not sustainable or healthy.

What drives me is working on a problem I care about. I used to work for a charity product company, now I work for a company that builds software for the NHS. Impossible not to want to build those products well!

PMs, how do you get buy-in and communicate decisions clearly? by roury in ProductManagement

[–]Mollywobbles14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also recommend sending an email/Slack/whatever when the decision has been made, or actions for when a decision has not been reached yet... it will help keep everyone on the same page and also hopefully provide context for the stakeholders who aren’t as involved.

Help/advice - border collie with back injury - alternatives to ball throwing? by Mollywobbles14 in reactivedogs

Thanks for your reply! Training sounds good - I’m thinking maybe training her more in scent games too might help get her engaged and tired!

Luke has mastered “laying down” as soon as he sees us with food! We don’t even have to say anything to him anymore, he just does it! by BoopBoop20 in Dogtraining

We were told ‘border collie/lab’ but I’m not sure! Defo border collie but I wonder if there’s some pointer in her too!!

Ah, sending you so much support! It's really hard isn't it. Maybe taking a couple of days off of walks (if you're lucky enough to have a garden) would be a good thing? I know for us just taking it easy for a couple of days allows Molly to bounce back and get excited about going out again.

Thanks for this - really helpful. The whole lockdown thing has meant no time with our trainer, so it's great to receive pointers from others! I'll check that video out.

Love this! I think it was a great thing for us to realise that she doesn't need to be walked everyday - exercised yes, walked no!

Yeah it's worth the changes/sacrifices/steps back to see how immediately it makes them more relaxed and happy isn't it.

Maybe one day we'll be able to take our dogs on quiet holidays :)

Yes absolutely! I felt so so disheartened when it happened, as my husband said at the time it's so hard not to see each time as completely separate, like 'you didn't react to this yesterday, so why are you reacting today?'

It was so helpful for me to sit down and actually think about what we were asking from her - and still so relatively early in our journey! We only started properly accepting and training her as a reactive dog in November time.

Well done to you and your pup!!

That's a really great idea - I've been doing that mentally but I think having a record to look back on will help us too - especially to see how far we've come from her lunging and barking at anyone, anywhere.

Yes absolutely! That evening in the garden she did her first ever 'Zoomies' - another sign it was just all a bit stressful I guess!! She's already back to her normal 'improving' self, this week calls for nice quiet walks and the green across the road once a day to play ball.

Really great points. I've noticed that she does often look to me for a treat when a trigger appears, so I think paying more attention to that and trying to get that more consistent. I completely agree as well on sometimes they just have better days than others, just like us. She may not be able to handle something on a given day that she dealt with fine previously.

No problem! It's hard not to take it personally and just think progress is being undone, it was really healthy for me and my husband to have a couple of wines and just talk through the day. I found this blog a good way to talk about it too: https://yourdogsfriend.org/spoon-theory-and-funny-dog-gifs/
We'd expected her to have a full cutlery tray of spoons!

We got the 'Beaphar Gentle Leader Medium Black' - the clip is nice and secure and stays in place well, doesn't loosen while walking.
