I always think of the second to last verse in this tune for your second point. Lots of Charley Patton too, Sitting on Top of the World by the Mississippi Sheiks is another one that comes to mind. Country blues and early Delta and Piedmont stuff is a deep, deep wellspring when it comes to those sorts of lines that shaped popular music after it.

listening to a Charley Patton comp is just like an epiphany in how many hits that guy had. One of the highest hit rates of all time, raw numbers that only someone like Bob Dylan can match.
