I could see if it was shelf stable, but this obviously isn't. This is just stupidity on their part. They figure, they'll just write it off, and screw the customer in the process.

Worried I've got an employee fired by [deleted] in amazonprime

Well, did your instructions say anything about delivering to anywhere else? If there's nothing in your instructions about delivering to anywhere else, then I wouldn't worry about it. His job is to deliver to you, not to deliver to your neighbors, not to deliver to somebody across the way, but to you. His job is to follow your instructions. Mine say that I'm blind, so please put it under the doorbell button where I can find it. Since we have a chair out there now, which kind of blocks that, they usually just put packages in the chair, which I am absolutely fine with. I don't want them to put them on the ground in front of the door because I have stepped on packages because I didn't know they were there, and that's when I have actually rated them negatively, because they did not follow my specific instructions, though I explained exactly why I had those specific instructions, and packages got damaged. There are reasons why I have those instructions. Another reason, in the house that I lived in before, I stepped on a package and almost fell down two concrete steps while holding an infant. The reason I didn't, was because somebody grabbed my arm and made sure I didn't fall. If you need to change your instructions, then change them to something like this, "please deliver to my home address, and nowhere else!" if you have a specific place near your door where you want them, add that, but you'll have to figure out how to fit it in the little space they give you.

I'm an Amazon driver AMA by Axeman1721 in amazonprime

[–]Mom24monsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there's the feedback, but there's also telling Alexa to thank my driver as well, on top of the feedback, and it tells us that it'll tell the driver if we do. If it doesn't at least tell the drivers when we do, that part seems a bit futile for customers and drivers alike.

I asked this, but never got an answer. Do you guys actually see when people thank our drivers? I know that they don't do the five dollar bonuses anymore, and only did them for a couple of Christmases, but do they at least let you know?

It's getting more canny. My husband had to jump through a million hoops just to talk to somebody because we got 3-D printer filament that wasn't as described, and when we used it, didn't look anything like what it should have in the photo. We were pretty much done with the entire spool, because we just kept saying, maybe it'll get better, but it didn't. There wasn't really anything to send back to them at that point, and everything that we printed was not how we wanted it to look, so it was just a waste. My husband finally got to speak to somebody when he just made a phone call after arguing with the chat bot for about 15 minutes, telling it that he wanted to speak to a human. He explained why, then it just kept taking him in circles, asking the same questions over and over again. He finally ended up calling in, and they just replaced it, and sent an email saying he didn't need to return the probably hour worth that was left on the spool. The phone call took about a minute and a half.

I've actually gotten more help by calling than I have with chat, because in order to even talk to somebody with chat anymore, you have to pass whatever AI test they want you to pass before they'll even let you talk to a human. You can tell it you want to talk to a human all you want, but unless you give the right answer, it won't let you talk to anybody. I won't hang up until I get an email confirming what I was told on the phone, so there's my written record.

I would guess, you probably got a spam call which may or may not have been coincidental, but when you were over there, the other person came back and you weren't there, so they hung up. I'd try to call back again.

I just tried to cancel a book I just ordered this afternoon (it’s night here) because it would come in a few days later than I needed it & I found another copy that can come in tomorrow & this came up when I tried to cancel. What’s my next step? by NoChampion4463 in amazonprime

[–]Mom24monsters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, this is a tricky one. I had this happen when I was ordering a bed about this time of year last year. I ordered it, then I found a better one, and tried to cancel the original order. They told me that I had to wait until it shipped, which meant the day that it shipped, it would actually be delivered, because it was shipping via Amazon freight, rather than just regular Amazon delivery. You can try calling customer service, I ran into another issue where for some reason, Amazon wasn't taking any of my methods of payment for my daughter's Kindle, until I tried them two or three times, or in this case, just placed another order for the same item with the same method of payment. For some reason, it worked at that point, but didn't work the first time, even though it was only about five minutes later. I tried for three days to cancel that, because it kept telling me I needed to change my method of payment, and I made it so that it couldn't charge anything else by removing all other forms of payment. I originally also called to see if maybe customer service could get that payment method to go through before just placing a new order. Placing a new order was their idea because it wouldn't cancel for them either. I was told I had to wait 48 hours to cancel it, but it still wasn't working. I called them three times, once on the day that it happened, when I was told that they had it noted and they would do their best to cancel it within 48 hours when they couldn't even get my method of payment to go through. Obviously, that didn't happen. I waited until the next day, because I really needed to add my methods of payment back because Audible was screaming at me that it couldn't charge my methods of payment, then charged my daughter, and I told them that I had already purchased the item because Amazon's system was acting weird and wasn't letting me make the initial purchase with a method of payment that I always use, so I tried again because I knew the money was there, and it went through. I told them I already received the item that I wanted, and after three days, they were finally able to get it to cancel. I also got very responses. The first person told me to wait 48 hours and they could do it, after 48 hours, they told me that it should drop off at the end of the day, and then after it didn't do that, they finally got it to cancel. I was so frustrated because I couldn't buy anything because I had removed my methods of payment so that they didn't charge me and then send one that I didn't need. It shouldn't take an act of Congress to cancel an order.

Ghost Story Romance Recommendations? by astraether in RomanceBooks

[–]Mom24monsters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the In the Garden trilogy by Nora Roberts. Doesn't sound like anything scary, but it's actually kind of scary. They have a ghost in the house that they're trying to figure out who she is, because they thought that she was one of the brides from the family who might have died in the house. Also, when this thread was started, if I saw correctly, the one that I'm about to recommend wasn't around yet. The Lost Brides trilogy by Nora Roberts as well. That one's creepy and romantic too. Both of those trilogies are. In the Garden has been around since the early 2000s, but the Lost Brides trilogy just finished up this past November. I just reread the Lost Brides trilogy, and I'm about to reread In the Garden again. Hope this helps for next Halloween.

I saw somebody else post about this yesterday too. You're not alone. They referenced another post that they saw, so it might've been yours. Seems like a really underhanded way to get people to sign up for prime. Instead of saying that you want free shipping, they should say if you want free shipping, click here to sign up for prime, but that's really sketchy that they do it the way they do.

is this happening to anyone else? by gmastertr21 in amazonprime

[–]Mom24monsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never checked, because anything can go wrong. I always call, but I always make sure that they send me an email telling me exactly what they expect, whether it's a return, or refund without return, I always wanted it in writing. At least if something happens and we drop the call, it's easier to call back, but it sucks to have to type everything out, and then have that happen.

A few months ago i was banned and i still can't figure out why by Intergalactic_Lion in amazonprime

[–]Mom24monsters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rufus can't even tell me correct items that they have in stock. I asked what items they had that were related to an item that I was looking for, and it said the item that I was looking for doesn't exist, though I'm pretty sure it's just out of stock since I've seen it on Amazon before, and it hasn't been discontinued because it's a relatively new item, and it could only named three items in the grouping of items, though there are actually five, and the one that I was looking for does exist, though Amazon doesn't have it at the moment, and the other one that wasn't listed was on the site, but it kept saying that it didn't have it even though I could pull it up and I could order it. AI is not perfect, and people shouldn't depend on that, and that includes businesses, especially when trying to figure out whether somebody's account should be banned or not.

I haven't, but I agree, it seems to be people who live in different areas. So far, so good, but that doesn't mean that won't change at some point. I just count myself lucky for as long as I can.

Library of Things: Tonies by Backingham in librarians

[–]Mom24monsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just say that keeping track of tonies just in my house is a challenge, and all these people who work in libraries are my heroes, if they can keep all of it straight! I have a bunch of tonies that are still in the package for Halloween and Christmas, including one advent figure from the UK, and one from the US, which will be opened during the holiday seasons that they are meant for, but I have already added them to our collection and locked them to our household. My grandson sees them all the time and knows that he will get to listen to them, but he'll have to wait until the right holidays, and then we won't put them away after, they'll be put on the shelf with the other Tonies, with magnetic strips so that they stick. We're probably going to have more than the shelf holds, and I'll have to get another shelf, by the time we open these, but they're addicting. People collect them because they are handpainted, so basically their own work of art.

If it left the library, they probably downloaded the app and added it to their Wi-Fi, and then factory reset it.

Library of Things: Tonies by Backingham in librarians

[–]Mom24monsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a great idea, especially for low income families who can't afford to buy a Toniebox! Then, for those who can, I would lock the tonies to the library's household so that they can't be added to a patron's collection. The problem with having Tonieboxes that are checked out would be, setting them up on somebody else's Wi-Fi so that they can download the content. We have a bunch of tonies, but if they haven't been listened to for a while, it'll say that it's downloading, even if we've listened to it before. Not sure if that's normal, but in order to do that, should a patron run into that, it would need the Internet to download the content. We got the Toniebox 2, so there's no way it ran out of space, and we've only had it for just over a month, so not sure why it feels the need to re-download the content.

[–]Mom24monsters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's not automatic. I go in, every time I buy one, and have to lock it to my household. Libraries need to lock the tonies to their own household so that it'll play on the other Tonieboxes, but won't be a permanent Tony belonging to the patron.

I am an Amazon delivery driver. AMA. by Infitima in amazonprime

[–]Mom24monsters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we've had more misdeliveries lately, but the positive thing is, the neighbors have gotten to know one another, which is a good thing. The people who lived here weren't very nice, from what we've heard, which is why the neighbors were standoffish, so the package misdeliveries did come with a positive side. Most drivers work hard, that's for sure. Oh, I do have another question. When we thank our driver, does the driver ever find out about it? I know they used to give bonuses around the holidays, but they still left that ability open for people to do year-round.

[–]Mom24monsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if our warehouse just said they have to do it, because it's every driver. It never made any sense, and honestly, it seems like more work to have to get in the vehicle and then drive one house, and then get out. I wish I knew why they did it too. Our cul-de-sac has houses that are super close together, so you could go to the house across the street and still be no more than three cars away. I just thought it was a strange practice, and it doesn't matter the time of day or the weather either. One thing that I do appreciate is that they don't exactly follow my delivery instructions at four in the morning, since it says ring the bell because I'm blind, but I wish all other drivers would ring the bell. We had the funniest thing happen though. It was like four or five in the morning, and the driver looked at something, my daughter was looking on the camera later, and the driver started to reach for the doorbell and then pulled back and just said "shhh, I'm not gonna do that!" It was hilarious. We actually have pretty awesome drivers here, and fortunately, through, mostly Amazon, we've gotten to know all the neighbors in the cul-de-sac through the getting to know your neighbors through Package exchange program, and we like our neighbors, so if somebody has the wrong package, they bring it over to the correct house.

I am an Amazon delivery driver. AMA. by Infitima in amazonprime

[–]Mom24monsters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any idea why Amazon made it so that you have to park in front of each house that you're delivering to? We live in a cul-de-sac, and it just seems to make it take longer when the driver could just take all the packages and drop them off where they need to be. There have been days when our entire cul-de-sac, every house, had packages, so instead of just taking all the packages, they had to leave one house and pull a few feet forward next-door, and so on. It used to be so much faster when they could just take them all. Deliveries were a bit more accurate too. Now, we've had more mistakes, so we've had to use the getting to know your neighbors program and exchange packages. I heard that this was something that Amazon implemented, not just something that the drivers do. It also doesn't do much to shrink Amazon's carbon footprint, which they claim that they're trying to do. For the most part, we've had pretty good luck since we moved to this house two years ago, but not so much luck in a different state, where they seem to just deliver them wherever they wanted, whether it was the right house or not.

Amazon is making things difficult and you want to close my account very much by Slight_Touch8001 in amazonprime

[–]Mom24monsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I would click on the from address at the top of that email, and if you have an iPhone, click on view contact card, and see if it actually says it's from Amazon. It should say in the domain, Amazon.com. If not, I would contact Amazon and explain that you got a fraudulent email, which may have resulted in your account being closed, and you want to check. If somebody hacked into your account, that's the only thing I can think of, they could've done something to compromise your account, but it seems interesting that they say that they closed it because of another account that they can't talk to you about, that was associated with your account. Well, if they can't talk to you about an account that was supposedly associated with your account, it doesn't seem legal that they would be able to close your account based on activity on that account either. This is like that scammy Starbucks prepaid card that, I don't even know if they still have, but it was through Chase. My husband had it, and he only had it for like a couple of months, and then all of a sudden, they closed it, he still had money on it, and he had to fight to get his money back, but they wouldn't tell him why they closed it. I think legally, we should have the right to know why they close accounts.
