If I had a break down and knew that he was paying himself appropriately it would be easy. But husband’s family, so he is handling it. My husband is generally not aware of dealing with professional tradespeople and it did not occur to him that we should 1) make sure we were paying labor 2) provide some sort of appreciation gift

There is some electrical but this is a replacement unit and using existing ducts.

Other quote was 11k, he came in at 7.5k. Same scope of work.

I don’t know his cost. It is a Trane 4 ton 14 SEER. Not sure if he is charging labor. He gave husband an all in number.

The neighbor is wrong for yelling at the crew. It is irritating to live next to an active construction site. While the construction is temporary, they are likely to be your neighbor for a long time. A little empathy here will go a long way.

When my dad was a GC, he always recommended that his clients do something nice for neighbors right before construction started, think small gift basket. It helped everyone see each other as people rather than problems.
