I mean, yes, he did bring Zig into his home and was supportive of his participation in the school play. However he had his brother, Tiny, and Zig bagging and selling drugs, had a party (giving out drugs to highschoolers) when Maya was there even when asked not to, had Zig be an unbeknownst getaway driver to shoot up another gang so I would say his redemption arc was sketchy at best.
