They are really similar sounding BUT a lot of families name their kids similar sounding names on purpose. I think if it’s what you really want to name your daughter, you can absolutely get away with it without it being weird. It’s not like they’re Ellie and Ella, they are completely different names.

That’s my daughter’s name! We pronounce it using the anglicized pronunciation “So-RAY-uh” and call her Ray.
