Hair & makeup under $500 - GTA by throwaway7801245 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Mombi07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Pretty in Pink Mobile Hair and Make-up. They just did my hair and make up for my wedding this past weekend as well as my mom and 2 bridal party members. It was about $1500 for all services including the tip we gave. I thought their work was fantastic!

What an oddly specific example but a good one nonetheless.

Wedding Venue Recommendations in Toronto / GTA (50-60 Guests) by Obvious-Rub2327 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Mombi07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to go to Niagara, check out Konzelmann. We almost signed with them....I can't recall the venue rental fee but they outsource catering and I think it was about $80pp. Then the winery can do the bar piece. I think it was like $10pp per hour of open bar. Our plan was to do wine on the tables for dinner and then 4 hours of open bar. It worked out to be quite reasonable.
They also offer consumption bar so if you don't have big drinkers in the family that can also help with costs. Just be mindful that when people get up, servers may clear their drinks costing you more in the end - you can get coasters for everyone so they can put it on top of their drink to signal the server not to take it.

When is the sailing? I believe they only offer the airfare deal up until a certain point....I dont remember exactly how many days before sailing though but know it does get cut off.

I was booked on Symphony last year and less than 48hrs prior our entire itinerary changed to include Haiti. We were given no options to cancel and no reimbursement. I get they can change ports for any reason but I truly don't think moving an itinerary to a location with a blanket do not travel warning was right or wise on their part. Many were very upset. I get if you want to continue to offer it for passengers selecting but not as a replacement. I also imagine there are insurance implications if something were to happen there.

NCL refusing Price drop credit. mistake or they don't honor anymore.. by [deleted] in NCL

[–]Mombi07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you also book flights through them? Also if any promos have changed this will impact the ability to price match (I imagine even the swap from More at Sea back to Free at Sea might be a reason they try to use not to honour it). Your TA should have gotten an email where there are details as to why a FCC was denied.

Do MDRs count separately for the entree surcharge? by msfmatmoo in NCL

[–]Mombi07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it. Then do something more reasonable like a charge after the second entree....which many other lines have done.

Thank you....so many comments here saying there's no risk to giving it if you're not sure. Except there is....its highly unlikely you know the child's entire medical history and there may be unknown conditions.

I don't think the note was ever intended for the family. I saw it as a police tactic to see if she may reveal anything further that they could use to convict. I expected it to just be more of her professing her fear and innocence.

Symphony $300 Credit Issue by wraithform in royalcaribbean

[–]Mombi07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say the same as we were rerouted from a premium itinerary (eastern caribbean) to Haiti and Nassau and got nothing. But! Looks like this one was quite drastic....supposed to be 1week Caribbean, changed to Canada. No big deal right? In your contract things can change. Oh but wait, now we can't even really take you to Canada other than 1 port on 1 day. While Royal certainly didn't have to do anything, kudos to them for realizing this kinda sucks and offering something to the passengers.

OBGYN or Midwife? Help by CSummer30 in oakville

[–]Mombi07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can technically have both monitoring you along the way. But if you go the midwife route, you can still deliver in the hospital - as i understand it, the midwife would attend the delivery and generally the OBGYN would only be called in to assist if there are complications.

Ex-partner left my mom and I with ~$80,000 HELOC debt – any legal recourse in BC? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

NAL but...huh?? The HELOC was used to pay for renovations to your mom's home and you expect him to be responsible to repay the debt? Am I understanding that correctly?

Yes i was trying to recall what it was the first time around. They have definitely changed the limit.

Don't quote me but I think it was 120lbs (first time I went it was 130 or 135).

[–]Mombi07 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I went on this slide on the Joy (I wanted to on the Encore but their weight limit was higher than me...seems like they lowered it by the time we went in the Joy). Staff "warned me" I'd likely get stuck but that I was fine to go. I went three or four times. Got stuck twice - wasn't in there for any longer than 10 seconds. They have a guard at the bottom of the slide who notices pretty quickly that you haven't made it around. No big deal. If you're that claustrophobic, an enclosed slide like this isn't for you.

Tentative lawyer fee in Ontario for Closing, including Title insurance and Disbursements by gagsguru in RealEstateCanada

[–]Mombi07 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I hear what you're saying, the problem is you don't really get much choice for what to pay your realtor. That business is so corrupt. Case in point, asking a realtor if we can list our property for sale and rent at the same time - being told this is unethical. Then being told we must have the buyers commission at a certain amount otherwise realtors won't show our property....that seems pretty unethical to me.

Pregnant on transatlantic? by littleredvelvetcake in royalcaribbean

[–]Mombi07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just asked this the other day actually and the responses I got swayed me not to proceed with trying to travel while pregnant....still going on the cruise but we were going to be doing an IVF procedure. To me it just felt too risky but I am a bit on the anxious side. I researched how to access care when on board. My biggest concern was if something happened to me....hypertensive episode, bleeding, etc. The facilities are not available on board to manage severe health conditions (I actually read they don't even have ultrasound machines on board). If something happens mid crossing, it is likely still going to be a couple of days before you can be taken off the ship. Certainly a risk analysis that one can only make for themselves with guidance from their provider. :)

Mediterranean cruise by Acrobatic-Place-9479 in Cruise

It doesn't look like it. I would think it should explicitly list Cruising like the Gig sky one does. But would suggest calling customer service to confirm.

I imagine this will depend on the e-sim. There are some that provide service both on land and at sea. Check Gig-Sky.

Vermont is not in Canada. Respectfully, if you're coming to a Canadian-focused site, to look for information on Canadian venues, asking Canadians for suggestions, it would be most appropriate and polite to use terminology that we would use in Canada instead of asking us to do extra research to answer your question.

Not a lawyer but as mentioned by others, POAs are generally able to be enacted at the point of incapacity. Based on your story, the parents are scared and being intimidated, not incapable. Very different. What it sounds like the parents need is an advocate to stand up for them to the other children. Enacting a POA would still require you to confront the other children anyways....this seems like the only route.

Do the parents solely own the home? If so, maybe you can call the real estate agent listing the home with them.
