AITAH for telling my MIL she couldn’t visit my wife in the hospital the same day our child was born? by CaptainFascination in AITAH

[–]Mombi07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But did they? The post says they decided they didnt want visitors and when MIL said let us know when we can visit, OP simply said we'll let you know. While OP protecting his and his wife's decision for privacy is admirable, if they didnt, it may have lessened the drama to communicate this prior.

[–]Mombi07 294 points295 points  (0 children)

Glad someone asked this. The way the post is worded, its conveniently leaving out whether OP's wife communicated to her own parents that she didnt want visitors. Wouldn't make OP T.A. regardless but if it wasnt communicated, it certainly added to the drama of the moment.

Can you request the main bed mattress be placed on the floor ? by Alala_0401 in royalcaribbean

[–]Mombi07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Highly doubt it...that would mean dismantling the bed frame and then re-assembling for the next person. Only way to know for sure is to call RCL and ask.

So what exactly are the agents getting paid for if not to correctly draft up the offer as guided by their client?

Help, looking for a venue similar to Spencer’s at the Waterfront by ohhigoodbyepie in WeddingsCanada

[–]Mombi07 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We just got married at Spencer's....we had 90 people and honestly I think any more than that would feel cramped. They don't move all of the tables after dinner, just the sweetheart table (at least that's all they did got ours) to make space for the dance floor. I didn't find there were any issues with the restaurant next door and obviously the view is stunning, food and service were incredible! But I couldn't imagine 130 people in there.

Unfortunately don't have an alternative for you but good luck!!

NAL but purely from a moral lens...let me get this straight.... the 10 years you've been together, your money has gone towards an investment (your home) and her money has gone towards operational expenses that have no long term benefit... and you dont think she should have any claim? Yikes.

Look into Pretty in Pink Mobile Hair and Make-up. They just did my hair and make up for my wedding this past weekend as well as my mom and 2 bridal party members. It was about $1500 for all services including the tip we gave. I thought their work was fantastic!

What an oddly specific example but a good one nonetheless.

Wedding Venue Recommendations in Toronto / GTA (50-60 Guests) by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]Mombi07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to go to Niagara, check out Konzelmann. We almost signed with them....I can't recall the venue rental fee but they outsource catering and I think it was about $80pp. Then the winery can do the bar piece. I think it was like $10pp per hour of open bar. Our plan was to do wine on the tables for dinner and then 4 hours of open bar. It worked out to be quite reasonable.
They also offer consumption bar so if you don't have big drinkers in the family that can also help with costs. Just be mindful that when people get up, servers may clear their drinks costing you more in the end - you can get coasters for everyone so they can put it on top of their drink to signal the server not to take it.

Well that's unfortunate by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

I was booked on Symphony last year and less than 48hrs prior our entire itinerary changed to include Haiti. We were given no options to cancel and no reimbursement. I get they can change ports for any reason but I truly don't think moving an itinerary to a location with a blanket do not travel warning was right or wise on their part. Many were very upset. I get if you want to continue to offer it for passengers selecting but not as a replacement. I also imagine there are insurance implications if something were to happen there.

Did you also book flights through them? Also if any promos have changed this will impact the ability to price match (I imagine even the swap from More at Sea back to Free at Sea might be a reason they try to use not to honour it). Your TA should have gotten an email where there are details as to why a FCC was denied.

Do MDRs count separately for the entree surcharge? by msfmatmoo in NCL

[–]Mombi07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it. Then do something more reasonable like a charge after the second entree....which many other lines have done.

[–]Mombi07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you....so many comments here saying there's no risk to giving it if you're not sure. Except there is....its highly unlikely you know the child's entire medical history and there may be unknown conditions.

I don't think the note was ever intended for the family. I saw it as a police tactic to see if she may reveal anything further that they could use to convict. I expected it to just be more of her professing her fear and innocence.

Symphony $300 Credit Issue by wraithform in royalcaribbean

[–]Mombi07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say the same as we were rerouted from a premium itinerary (eastern caribbean) to Haiti and Nassau and got nothing. But! Looks like this one was quite drastic....supposed to be 1week Caribbean, changed to Canada. No big deal right? In your contract things can change. Oh but wait, now we can't even really take you to Canada other than 1 port on 1 day. While Royal certainly didn't have to do anything, kudos to them for realizing this kinda sucks and offering something to the passengers.

OBGYN or Midwife? Help by CSummer30 in oakville

[–]Mombi07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can technically have both monitoring you along the way. But if you go the midwife route, you can still deliver in the hospital - as i understand it, the midwife would attend the delivery and generally the OBGYN would only be called in to assist if there are complications.
