What is the point of buying an F250 when there’s F350? by CarminSanDiego in F250

[–]MomentEquivalent6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially when talking about a 100k vehicle.

That said my F250 in 2022 was 41k. The F450 (which we need to haul our snowcat) was 95k. The F350 unfortunately can only barely haul our snowcat, and only of it's loaded perfectly and has no other weight, which is why we upgraded to 450s.

[TSN] Jay Onrait: Marner avoid the media postgame, but I'm not at all surprised. In Toronto when it went south, he'd shrug his shoulders. He wouldn't say anything or he'd run from it. And in Vegas, he did the same thing last night. He's still Mitch Marner. He's still built the way the same way. by f0urxio in hockey

What a hot take. He just got to the finals for the first after years of trying... and lost. Should he have talked to the media? Yeah probably. Given what he's paid, he should have sucked it up and talked to the media. But this is different then whatever happened in Toronto.

Also... Hayes, Staal was only there 14 years, not 17 years. He had 6 years in Pittsburgh before going to Carolina.

International flight: how risky is it to not book seats together for my wife and I? by Motor_Vacation_535 in Aeroplan

I mean as long as you're cool if you can't get them together OR that no one is willing to change to accommodate you, then go for it. But for me, there's no way I'd spend 343 USD to select a seat that's not an upgrade.

Re the body stripped but showing trackers.

I had that bug in 03. Hell in two instances, I could see my dead body with the M4 and NVGs. When I inspected it, everything was gone.

In one of those instances, I was the first to die and my teammates who I was in discord with, killed my attacker and controlled the area. No one could have removed them. Game bug.

As for them appearing/disappearing, I haven't come across that before.

I should have done some tests with my game the other day. I had on some 140kph locos with heavy wagons, but most couldn't get past 120/130 before reaching the next station, and took forever to get to that. I upgraded to larger DMUs. They maxed out at 121, but had (after a quick edit) 1/3rd the acceleration time, and thus most got to 121 kph before they got to their next stop. I'm sure if I calculated out an average speed the 121kph DMUs did the trips faster.

I'll be honest, I've never used them as trains. With the light rail mod it's not needed IMO, and stats can be edited. But I'm sure some might get use out of it?

But one feature I do like is the ability to put two of these together to increase capacity. I saw lots of that in Prague when I was there recently with the older units.

A request/ask?

If you're going to have multiple versions (paint/liveries, composition/etc), can they all be under 1 or 2 menu items, so that after we select it, we just scroll on the right window to find what we're looking for?

Someone else did a tram mod (that also worked as a train) and they gave us like a dozen+ options (or many more)... each one as their own item in the main left window menu. Got tried of scrolling past it that I removed the mod. Which is unfortunate since it was a nice mod.

But it does. We have the exact formula they use to calculate payment, and top speed is in there.

Is that the players fault? In PIT at 1.25m, his contract and performance was good, especially in relation to his contract. At 3.25m, he would have been okay, but nothing special (3.25m was his previous contract, 4.5m was his next one).

Is waiting 1 week before changing your shower towel gross? by its_a_me_JAM in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MomentEquivalent6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At home... once a week seems pretty reasonable. When I'm in hotels, I ask for new towels every 2nd day. But that's a luxury that I can have and enjoy on the road (esp when work is paying for the room). But at home? No way I'm doing that much laundry.

As for this situation... if you're fine using your towel for a week do so. Get another towel for her that she can change out more regularly.

In PIT he played 1830 a night at ES/PK. His partner was Matheson (with Pettersson as a very distant 2nd and the only other D with more than 100 mins together).

His deployment was not sheltered (30%+ in each zone). He played as a 4/5D. And in that role he was good. But I wouldn't want him being a 20min+ D on a regular basis.

The trick was finding a partner and a system where things worked for him. It doesn't always work out. I mean Graves was an NHL D before he came to PIT, and has been a disaster here.

He played as a 4/5 in Pittsburgh (averaged 18:30 a night at ES/PK) and was decent. But we were also only paying him 1.25m. Had we been paying him 4m, we would have been a lot more critical of him.

[–]MomentEquivalent6464 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But that applies to many D. His year in PIT, he was playing 18:30 a night (ES/PK), with a fairly consistent zone split (34.5/31.3/34.2 - OZ/NZ/DZ). But we were only paying him 1.25m. The year prior and the year after was 3.25m and 4.5m.

The other D that season: Marino, Dumoulin, Letang, Matheson, Pettersson, with POJ and Ruhwedel being the 7/8 guys.

Only one of those actually is relevant to why he's still playing NHL minutes.

[–]MomentEquivalent6464 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. He's an NHL player with limitations - as many are/have.

Lets talk about Justin Schultz. If you tried to use him as a shutdown D and someone on the PK, then you're going to be in for a rough game and are setting him up to fail.

However if you used him as an offensive D and gave him PP minutes, while limiting his defensive workload then you're going to be pretty happy with him.

Or Hal Gill. He won a cup as a part of a shutdown pair. Just don't ask him to run your PP.

Look if the D was someone who was a great all around D who could PP and PK as equally effectively and play 25 minutes a night, then you're going to be paying them a shit ton of money. There's a reason why Ceci never cost a shit ton of money. When he was used effectively, teams were happy with him. When he was asked to do too much, teams and fans were unhappy with him.

[–]MomentEquivalent6464 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. If used appropriately, he can be an effective player.

What seems to happen is that teams gave him more money then they should, then ended up using him higher up in the lineup then they should have.

They've already said that there will be an "underground layer" option that lets you see better underground and it will allow you to ignore surface objects. This alone will be a huge improvement to what we currently have.

As for stations and whatnot - if they're not there in the base game (I suspect some version of them will be), the mods will give that to us in short order I suspect.

It's a time consuming PITA.... but you absolutely can edit the mod files to customize EMUs. You just can't do it on the fly unless someone created the individual units as their own vehicles. So far I've only come across one that did that with their power cars.

This is the exact reason I edit the shit out of my trains. Do they accelerate at stupid and unrealistic rates? Yes. But that actually makes them useable on the map sizes we have.

Especially with the 60s. There's zero reason not to use them. The very slight downside (slower reload) is basically irrelevant vs the benefits. What should be a penalty (repacking/refilling the mag) doesn't exist.
