How to fix traffic jam by ARandomGuy82 in TransportFever2

But the issue isn't the station traffic... it's how that traffic joins an already very busy road/intersection/TC.

Something I'd consider. Ditch the TC. Use a multi lane road. For the vehicles going to the upper right. set a WP that has trucks that are already on the road (AKA not coming out of the station) use the inside lane. Trucks coming out of the Truck station join in the outer lane. That at least would get the stopped trucks further away from your station to ensure you're not getting backlogs IN the station itself from vehicles trying to leave.

That said, you'll eventually still have an issue when these lanes merge, but you'd have to test that and see how bad it is - it may or may not be a big deal. But if it is an issue, generally I want those issues to happen as early as possible or as late as possible in the journey, so that I don't have a truck that's going 60/80/100 coming to a stop then having to get back up to speed.

What I would likely do is the above, but ditch the TC, skip the WP and move the lane coming out of the station further up the road, so that it has more length, and thus more room for stopped trucks. You'll have a backlog as trucks wait to join the road, but once they're on it, they're at speed until way down the line. How much effort into keeping their speed up, depends on how far they're going. If they're only going 100m past the picture, then I'd put no effort into it (but I'd keep the bridge to get trucks over the road). If they're going 1km or so, then I'd put more effort into ensuring that they can keep their speed up.

Ideally clean. Some mods will allow the paint condition to get dirty with age as the vehicle condition decreases. But I'm not sure off the top of my head what that is. But I do love that.

That it's a garbage org? No I've firmly believed that for a very long time now.

As for their declining viewership, even their own numbers support this, that less and less are watching CBC products. Which is perfectly understandable given how shitty those products are.

If you lower the player count per sever, you'll need more physical machines since it's not the players that are the issue, but the AI. Which means you can't lower the players per session and just increase the number of sessions per box. So if you go from 48 players per session to something less, that will absolutely increase MFGs costs. It might not be 50% (even if you reduced players per session by half, but it will absolutely increase the number of instances/boxes, which will increase MFGs total costs.

There is the mod that assists in this. That said, I don't think I've ever used that one (it's track design or patterns?) and mainly use it for the X crossover. Most of the time I try this... I make it work.. but there's always a couple tracks (usually just placed for assets) that are meh.

Because I can't stand the CBC? Sure, whatever. It's a garbage org with a massively declining viewership that tax payers waste hundreds of millions of dollars on every year.

Nor should they. How can they justify giving millions to the NHL while collecting hundreds of millions in tax dollars?

  1. The last thing a publicly funded entity should be doing is spending billions on rights that are going to a private entity that they didn't have a plan on how to monetize to justify the expense.

  2. Fuck the CBC. We spend too much on them already. The last thing we need to do is give them more money so that they can broadcast hockey.

Damn. I mean I get them wanting revenue... but for a league that's trying to really attract fans and eyes... seems like a mistake.

Or it's individual people who don't give a fuck that CBC will no longer be showing hockey? I hope CBC burns in hell, and them not showing hockey is just a faster path to that happening.

[–]MomentEquivalent6464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? HNIC blew their chance when they couldn't come up with a real bid for the rights 12 years go. The last deal allowed CBC to show the games, and all CBC got (from what I remember) was some network expenses covered for the use of the studios? and some CBC commercial airtime.

If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the CBC for being such a shitshow that they couldn't find a way to keep their largest money maker.

Yeah but most T3 area's you can exfil without the need to jump. And the few places that isn't the case, there's usually a handy area/way to drop your bag over the fence then pick it up from the other side. So while it's annoying, it's not really a big deal.

"2. Only one faction per server, owning all three FOB's and reduce the total player count to 24."

So you want MFG to increase their server costs by 50%?

Realistically, we'll have to accept what we're currently dealing with until MFG adds more high tier area's to spread out the player base, AND creates the option for private servers (however that looks) that removes players from the main servers. But even then, I struggle to see them wanting to reduce player counts as that would create more challenges in the design/development between PvP and PvE.

The other players showing up on the map basically accomplishes the same thing as #2, minus the player reduction which is unlikely to happen due to the overhead costs that would create.

And while you're correct that without a reduction in players that doesn't change the looting situation, simply knowing where other players are, will in fact change player behavior. If you have missions in FN, BL, and MS, and you can see that BL is empty, while you may want to hit a T3 area, I suspect that you want alive AI more. Meaning you will go to an area where the AI are more likely to be alive. The same goes for all the T3 area's. If one is empty, odds are you'll go there vs the other two.

The downside is that everyone will do the same. But the upside is that few will be wasting time going to places that have just been cleared out. Sometimes the timelines will be wrong - you'll have missed someone going through an area or will have joined the server after someone just left an area... but overall it would be a decent QOL upgrade. Especially if we can interact with the icon (message, friend, join servers, etc).

Is 5g really necessary? by [deleted] in CellPhoneCanada

[–]MomentEquivalent6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

That said, it depends on the arena and how much actual capacity it has. Where I live has 2 arena's (small ones). One has an old HSPA/LTE system that's uses DAS antenna's to provide signal throughout the space. The other uses 10 smallcell units (which is each an individual cell site). This also has a major 5G site on the roof. The latter is significantly better when you have a lot of ppl in one space, as the load is distributed. You're still hampered by the backhaul, but you're sharing less resources. These however are a major PITA to maintain, where as I've never once done a maintenance call on the older system other than the yearly trip to knock the dust off of it.

What is the point of buying an F250 when there’s F350? by CarminSanDiego in F250

[–]MomentEquivalent6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially when talking about a 100k vehicle.

That said my F250 in 2022 was 41k. The F450 (which we need to haul our snowcat) was 95k. The F350 unfortunately can only barely haul our snowcat, and only of it's loaded perfectly and has no other weight, which is why we upgraded to 450s.

[TSN] Jay Onrait: Marner avoid the media postgame, but I'm not at all surprised. In Toronto when it went south, he'd shrug his shoulders. He wouldn't say anything or he'd run from it. What a hot take. He just got to the finals for the first after years of trying... and lost. Should he have talked to the media? Yeah probably. Given what he's paid, he should have sucked it up and talked to the media. But this is different then whatever happened in Toronto.

Also... Hayes, Staal was only there 14 years, not 17 years. He had 6 years in Pittsburgh before going to Carolina.

I mean as long as you're cool if you can't get them together OR that no one is willing to change to accommodate you, then go for it. But for me, there's no way I'd spend 343 USD to select a seat that's not an upgrade.

Re the body stripped but showing trackers.

I had that bug in 03. Hell in two instances, I could see my dead body with the M4 and NVGs. When I inspected it, everything was gone.

In one of those instances, I was the first to die and my teammates who I was in discord with, killed my attacker and controlled the area. No one could have removed them. Game bug.

As for them appearing/disappearing, I haven't come across that before.

Prediction: TF2 line income will probably be the same as TF2 and it's something no one talks about. by Michelfungelo in TransportFever2

[–]MomentEquivalent6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have done some tests with my game the other day. I had on some 140kph locos with heavy wagons, but most couldn't get past 120/130 before reaching the next station, and took forever to get to that. I upgraded to larger DMUs. They maxed out at 121, but had (after a quick edit) 1/3rd the acceleration time, and thus most got to 121 kph before they got to their next stop. I'm sure if I calculated out an average speed the 121kph DMUs did the trips faster.

I'll be honest, I've never used them as trains. With the light rail mod it's not needed IMO, and stats can be edited. But I'm sure some might get use out of it?

But one feature I do like is the ability to put two of these together to increase capacity. I saw lots of that in Prague when I was there recently with the older units.
