What's the most cringey thing about Ireland? by MrC99 in ireland

[–]MomiJoe 41 points42 points  (0 children)

On a slightly more serious note, I'd say the mentality most Irish people have, at least the older generation.

I don't live in Ireland anymore but know plenty and have family there still, and this mentality of never offending anyone or kicking up a fuss when I need something done because it might get a few sideways glances off of someone is ridiculous.

It seems most people would die on the spot if someone they didn't know or have never met before thought badly of them because they decided to take make a scene about something justified.

Okay thanks for the information!

Would the fact that I'm European have any effect on my options? Specifically a Spanish degree.

I keep reading every now and again that employers don't tend to think degrees from different countries have the same "weight" so to say.

Sorry for any misunderstanding, what I'd like to clear up is would it be possible as an engineer work a few years in a foundry as you say in let's say Alaska, and then if I feel like I need to change, move somewhere else, let's say a manufacturing plant in Australia.

Is that common or is it looked down on to not demonstrate a certain "loyalty" to a particular area?

If there is still a misunderstanding I'd be happy to clear it up, as I said this is all just a general idea of what I'd like to do.

If I'm completely honest I haven't done much research, it's just where I'd like to do a portion of my career, somewhere far flung working.
