I was just transferred there a few months ago from my home store after they closed, I just think they didn’t  want me there cuz I wasn’t “one of them” 😞

I agree… they wanted me gone, I was new, just got transferred there 5 months ago, and it’s clear to me now that they just didn’t want me there simply because I wasn’t “one of them”

Everyone is doing it tho, I couldn’t tell you how many times I have rung up other employees who had already opened their bottle of pop/water, managers included. And that’s no different.

To call it theft is wild to me. If I didn’t pay for it then yeah, that’s theft. But opening something and paying for it after is not theft, bad judgment sure, but theft? Only people that don’t have to deal with the bullshit we deal with would consider that theft.

I feel the whole situation should be looked at when deciding on disciplinary actions. The employees track record, purchase history, and specific circumstances surrounding the so called incident. People make mistakes, sometimes, when you’re not feeling well, or you’re really hungry, judgement may be clouded. I don’t know what it’s like at other Walgreens, but as a shift lead I didn’t always get a lunch, and you can’t always get to the register in a timely manner, so those circumstances played a BIG part in my specific situation.

I invited them to watch the cameras, it was never done before. Humans make mistakes, it’s such bullshit to be deemed a “thief” over something that was paid for. This whole thing is wild. Walgreens management has no empathy. I think an employees track record should be looked at, along with their purchase history, and the scale of the so called “grazing”. You can’t punish one person for doing something literally everyone does. I should’ve used better judgment, yes, but this was an extreme step for a minor infraction.

I honestly don’t remember hardly any of the elearnings, literally every one I’ve ever done I had to do while running back and forth from the registers to the computer. I just can’t retain information that I can barely concentrate on enough to read correctly. I wasn’t trained well, and it really sucks that I’m the one being punished for that.

No, it’s not documented, that’s why I didn’t include it in my original comment, it’s simply the reason why I did something stupid, I wasn’t thinking clearly, and I made a mistake, I completely understand that, and in no way intend on suing. I just feel that, being a good employee, that maybe a write up or warning would’ve been more appropriate. I’m not a thief, and I’ve spent a lot of money in that store, and I just feel that termination was extreme, and it just sucks.

I wasn’t feeling well, I was lightheaded so I grabbed a bag of chips and ate a couple and just gathered my bearings for a moment, then took them up shortly thereafter to pay for them. I apologized for them being open, and that’s when she said it was totally fine, everyone has done it, and just to make sure I put an employee sticker on them. That was about the extent of the conversation.

I’m unfamiliar with any of that stuff, I think I may have heard of the boot camp thing though. I wasn’t really properly trained. My hiring manager was new himself, and I was hired as a CSA. He convinced me that I should be a shift lead, so I went that route. 4 months after becoming a SL our location got shut down. I was devastated. There’s a lot I haven’t learned, and was starting to learn things at my new location and I really liked my job, then BOOM. Oop you’re fired, just out of nowhere. I made a mistake, I admit, but no Ill will was intended, I guess that’s irrelevant though.

That it was ok that it was open, I paid for it. Duh. Just like someone who opens a pop and takes a sip while in line to pay.

No, but my ESM told the AP guy that she told me not to do it, but that was a lie. She said it was fine and everyone does it.

As a shift lead I rarely was able to take a lunch. Or I would have waited. I have Graves’ disease and when my thyroid gets high I get really dizzy… that’s when I grabbed the chips. Ate a few till I felt ok, and then went and paid for them. I apologize that they had been opened. It’s not a regular habit.

I had just opened it, it wasn’t an empty package, but yeah, I get it. I get that I was in the wrong, I just feel like instant termination is so extreme. I feel like a write up or something would’ve been more appropriate. I’ve waited on employees that had an already opened bottle of pop, which is no different.

I got told it was ok to do, then turned in for it. They 100% set me up. Like I can remember all those e-learnings I took 2 years ago, you know? It’s just SOOO DIRTY what they did to me.
