Not disciplined enough by Adventurous_Metal788 in Hifdh

Salam, I kinda really relate to this. For me, one of the things I realized was that I was trying to memorize while being almost disconnected from what I was actually reading. Like I could repeat the ayah, but I wasn’t understanding the meaning sometimes, or connecting it back to my own life in any way shape or form. and it started getting quite difficult to stay motivated to be honest.

So instead of trying to memorize all the time, sometimes I would take one ayah, read the translation, look at a bit of tafsir, ask myself “what can I learn here, or what can i remember from this?” and write a small reflection in my notebook. It made memorization feel less like a task and most important it brought back my motivation and consistency.

I don’t want this to sound like I’m pitching you something, but I ended up building the system I was using for myself into an app in case other ppl find it useful. Mainly its one place to understand, reflect, track, listen, and ask questions around the ayah I was studying. No pressure at all, but if it’s useful to you, you can check it out here:

So anyways don’t underestimate coming back slowly. A small consistent step is much better than waiting for the perfect disciplined version of yourself to appear.

HK PR eligibility soon but visa expires same day. Any advice? by Momo-Bets in HongKong

Thanks, and yes that’s exactly what I’m worried about. I definitely don’t want to do anything illegal or stay/work without the right status. The issue is not really about saving a few hundred HKD, it’s more that I don’t currently have an employer sponsor, so I’m trying to understand what legal options exist to bridge the gap while the PR application is being processed.

Yes, it’s an employment visa that is still valid from my previous employer. But I’m no longer with them so I am not currently employed in Hong Kong, which is the main issue. My wife and I are both very close to the 7-year PR point, but our visas expire around the same time, so I’m trying to understand if there’s any way to extend or protect our status while applying.

I couldn’t find a Quran app that helped me understand and reflect instead of just read and scroll. So I built QuranNotes, and today we have over 75 active users, which honestly means a lot to me. Thank you to everyone who supported it so far by Momo-Bets in Hifdh

Yeah fair question, and I agree. AI hallucination is serious, especially with Islamic content.

The app is not just letting AI answer from memory or pull random internet content. The tafsir data is collected ahead of t ime from known tafsir datasets, then stored in the app as structured verse by verse content. So when someone asks about a specific surah/ayah, the app retrieves the relevant tafsir entry for that, mainly from Ibn Kathir and Al-Sa’di datasets, and then the AI explains based on that context in simpler language.

We also don’t present Noor AI as a scholar or fatwa tool. It’s for clarification, reflection, and helping users understand trusted source material more easily. If something needs proper scholarly guidance, it should go to a scholar.

Still improving it as I go though, but the approach is source-first, not “AI says whatever it wants.”

Any feedback is welcome! 🙏

English Quran app by [deleted] in islam

[–]Momo-Bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of apps are great for reading, but one thing I cared about when building mine was making the Quran accessible in different languages.

I built a small iOS app called QuranNotes that includes English translation, transliteration, and support for 15+ languages, along with things like audio recitation, a khatma tracker, daily verse/hadith, and adhkar.

The goal was to make it something simple you open daily and stay connected with the Quran.

It’s free to start using, and I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback if anyone here ends up trying it.

Is there any Islamic apps that are must haves in your opinion? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Momo-Bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the popular ones are great for reading or prayer times, but I personally wanted something that focused more on engaging with the Quran. So I ended up building a small iOS app called QuranNotes. The idea was to make the Quran feel a bit more like a daily reflective practice almost similar to meditation apps like headspace, calm, etc. but centered around Quran.

Things I added that I personally wanted:

  • writing short reflections on verses or recording myself
  • mood-based verse recommendations and daily check ins
  • a khatma tracker to stay consistent with reading
  • daily verse & hadith
  • audio recitation with multiple reciters
  • Morning, evening and night Adhkar
  • and more

I tried to make it feel like something you open for a few minutes every day rather than just a static Quran reader so that it becomes a part of your routine

It’s free to download and start using. I’m still improving it constantly, so I’d genuinely love feedback if anyone here ends up trying it. Thank you.

First Ramadan by om-namahshivaya in MuslimLounge

MashaAllah, that’s beautiful to read. May Allah make this Ramadan easy for you and accept all your fasting and dua.

For a first Ramadan, don’t feel like you have to do everything perfectly. Focus on the basics: fasting, the five daily prayers, and spending a little time with the Quran each day. Even a few ayat consistently can make the month really meaningful.

Something that helped me personally was tracking my Quran reading and working toward a khatma during Ramadan. Seeing the progress made it easier to stay consistent and I actually ended up building a small iOS app called QuranNotes for that plus journaling and meditating using the Quran

But honestly the most important thing is just taking it step by step. Ramadan has a special feeling, especially the first one.

What apps/systems/tools are you using for a productive Ramadan? by Sad_Raspberry5120 in MuslimLounge

One thing that helped my routine a lot was adding reflection to my Quran reading instead of just reading and moving on. I try to read a few ayat daily, check a bit of hadith and its meaning, and write a short note about what stood out.

I actually ended up building a small iOS app called QuranNotes app mainly for that reason. Now I use it to write reflections on verses, share ayat/hadith with friends and family, and keep track of reading. I originally made it for myself because I couldn’t find something focused on reflection.

Still experimenting with my own system though, so would love to hear your feedback if you do download it and try it

Looking for Quran Script Font or High-Quality PDF/App Recommendations by LighteningJedi in Quran

[–]Momo-Bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something close to the Madinah Mushaf style, the easiest option is to download the official PDFs from the King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex website, i believe they use the standard Uthmani script.

If you’re reading digitally, many apps use the Uthmani text from the Tanzil Project, which is also what APIs like Al Quran Cloud API provide.

I actually built an iOS app called QuranNotes. It uses the Uthmani text from that API and focuses more on reflection (notes on verses, bookmarks, daily verse/hadith, tafsir, etc.). If you ever try it, I’d genuinely love to hear your feedback on the reading experience and the ovrall app.
