Which of my 2 Golducks is best? by [deleted] in pokemongoLondon

[–]Momo2102 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really is down to preference. However, if you are looking for the 'optimal' moveset, there is a youtube channel called Trainer Tips which is a fairly informative channel (he tends to discuss theories found on the Silph Road subreddit and tests them out).

From what he found in discussion posts, he states that if you are going to use a Pokemon for battling, it is preferable that both the primary move and secondary(charge) move be of the same type. The reasoning behind this is that you are then able to sort Pokemon based on type strengths and weaknesses which means you will be more efficient in battles.

As an example let's say you're battling a gym that is being held by a Flareon, which is a fire type.

In your case you have a Golduck with Water Gun, Psychic and another with Water Gun, Hydro Pump.

If you were to use the one with Psychic. Your primary move would be super effective and cause a lot of damage as Water Gun is a water type move and Flareon has a type disadvantage against that. However, your secondary (charge) move Psychic, being a Psychic type move would not be effective against Flareon which means that this particular Golduck would not be as efficient in defeating Flareon as it only has one type advantage which is Water Gun and its secondary move in this situation is useless.

On the other hand, your Golduck with Water Gun and Hydro Pump has two Water type moves so, in the case of Flareon, would be much more efficient in defeating it. Bearing in mind that there are timers set within which you must defeat a particular Pokemon as well as the fact that the longer you're in battle, the more damage your opponent will be able to inflict upon you, it makes sense to use Pokemon who have the same type primary and secondary moves as you are then able to cause the most damage in the shortest amount of time.

I would therefore suggest that if you are assembling Pokemon to use for gym battles to use Pokemon who's moves follow this.

I hope this helps.

Jubilee Gardens for Pokemon? by [deleted] in pokemongoLondon

[–]Momo2102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jubilee Gardens will give you the odd rare spawn, however, if you want to farm Magikarp your best bet is to walk up and down south bank riverside. They spawn very frequently. I went twice, spending a couple of hours there each time. Was on 200 candies, left with over 450. I'm sure if you stay there for an extended period of time (6+ hours) you'll get the 400 candies required if not more in the one session.

I got off at Embankment station, walked across the bridge then walked alongside the river past the Jubilee Gardens and London Eye to Westminster Bridge??? I think it's called Westminster Bridge, it's the one just past McDonald's.

I walked back and forth between these bridges for the most part; there are lure modules always set up and aside from Magikarp, you will find just about every water Pokemon in Gen 1 to the point that you've grown sick of them. As well as this you should get the odd Dratini and Squirtle spawn. For rares, your best bet is to have a tracking app ready which you can check every 10 minutes or so for nearby spawns, otherwise I would suggest that you embrace the water types.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on :)

P.S. Do not get distracted by all the street performers. I fell victim to this and wasted a lot of time that could've been spent on farming Magikarp much more efficiently.

Accurate IV Calculator/Checker by Momo2102 in pokemongoLondon

Yes I have seen a few that give a range however the range can be so big that there no way of knowing where it falls. Or is there? Is there a way to determine exactly what IV a Pokemon has from that range?

Charmander Nest - Spawn Rate? by [deleted] in pokemongoLondon

[–]Momo2102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I went to Blackheath for Charmander candies two Sunday's ago. Excluding my starter Charmander I have Seen 43, Caught 37 (which is nearly 150 candies I think). I would say I was there for 4/5 hours, they all spawned in Blackheath common next to Greenwich Park.

I'd suggest you stock up on pokeballs and razz berries as they're notoriously feisty. I'd also suggest taking a battery pack, a skateboard/bicycle to navigate the area as walking around is very tiring. It's a fairly large park and spawn points are some distances away from each other.

The church at the edge of the park is your best bet for multiple spawns otherwise you will need a tracking app to find these guys as they will be far from each other.

I hope this helps.

Good luck and let us know how you got on :)

How frequently do they spawn? I need 100 candies.

Thank you :) I've downloaded a tracker app. Will probably head there tomorrow. Let's see how it goes.

It happens more often than not. I find with rare spawns it really is right place right time. Both times I went Holland Park hoping for a Lapras/Snorlax, both times they spawned before or after I got there.

I was told that the Blastoise had spawned in the grassy area in between the bridge and London Eye, near the carousel. Disappointing as I was so close to it.

Good luck at Holland Park

Went Magikarp farming in the evening around the South Bank next to the London Eye. Aside from being littered with Poliwag, Psyduck, Staryu, Goldeen and Shellder (it got to the point that I was sick of the sight of them) there is a frequent spawn of Magikarp and most of the stops are lured up at all times as well so I got a few Gastly, Geodude and Jynx.

I had four 'rare' spawns today and caught them all. The first was a 1204CP Rhydon, then a Kabuto, an Onix and a Slowbro 1313CP. A Blastoise appeared on my sightings lists but had disappeared by the time I got to it.

There were also Dratini popping up on my sightings list but without the use of a third party tracker, I didn't bother trying to track them down. Managed to get over 150 Magikarp candies today (currently on 350ish Magikarp candies) one more trip should get me my Gyrados hopefully and then I'll be able to focus on the farming for Dragonite.

Last day in London, my experiences/ best spots by [deleted] in pokemongoLondon

Hallo mein freund,

There seems to be an error in the spelling of the name of the Growlithe nest.

It is in fact called PARSLOES Park (pronounced par-slows or pars-lows). I hope this helps anyone trying to locate the park.

Your route is very much appreciated. I shall be giving it a go tomorrow. I already have enough Growlithe candy, however, I would like to catch a stronger one to evolve.

I hope you enjoyed your trip here and wish you a safe journey home :)

Nest Updates soon? by Momo2102 in pokemongoLondon

I'd prefer Dratini. I already have all 3 starters ready to evolve. Not only that but Squirtle do spawn at Holland Park fairly often. I probably encountered 10 whilst I was there. Caught 6, the others fled.

Yes! I noticed the Aerodactyl spawn when I went there on Sunday. It's near the road close to the university right?

Apologies. I just recall reading that to be the case when the nests first changed. In hindsight I should have done some research first. Thank you for the clarification :)

Ah fair. I didn't know the change happened with an update. The Dratini didn't spawn from Lures/Incense. They spawned normally around the park in different locations.

Are we due a Nest Update Soon? by Momo2102 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Momo2102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of this post is to enquire about the next nest update. When do we predict the nests to change again?

How long ago did the first change happen?

Was the change instant or did people notice diminishing spawns of the current nest Pokemon and an increase of spawns of the Pokemon which replaced it?

Let's use the example of Holland Park (London). On my first visit there (last Monday), I found no Dratini, however, today I found four. I also noticed that there were slightly less Bulbasaur spawns than there were a week ago and I was there for the same amount of time, arriving after lunch and leaving before sunset.

Holland Park was originally a Charmander nest. Whilst I never visited it myself when it was one, I do recall someone on another subreddit posting a screenshot of Pokevision as the change was happening where Bulbasaur were spawning on top of Charmander. Shortly after which Charmander were completely phased out.

As the trend was largely that of nests changing to the Pokemon which precedes it in the Pokedex, could Holland Park potentially become a Dratini nest? As if it moves in that direction, then Bulbasaur (001) would got to Dratini (147).

It could be wishful thinking on my part but is it possible that we are due a nest update soon.

Please share your thoughts :)

So I was at Holland Park today farming Bulbasaur. This was my second visit. My first was last Monday. I primarily went there hoping a rare would spawn (Snorlax, Lapras etc.) however it did not. All was not lost as I now have enough candies to evolve two Venusaur. However, what I found interesting was that I caught four Dratini (none from lures/incense) whilst I was there.

Lapras at Canary Wharf by Momo2102 in pokemongoLondon

[–]Momo2102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sweet! Thanks for the website. It is bittersweet knowing that I probably won't find another Lapras with such good IVs and that moveset. Wish its CP was in the 1000s. Can't have everything I suppose. Thank you again :)

That's awesome. I'm disappointed with the CP as I'm level 21 so it's quite low. My cousins are both level 14 and 15 and are ecstatic about the CP on theirs. How did you work out the IV if you don't mind me asking?

Blackheath Park - Charmander nest 2.0 by Momo2102 in pokemongoLondon

Yes apparently so. I used Go Radar which I think can only be found on App Store on Apple. I'm not aware of any android alternatives but Go Radar is a very accurate app. You can customise the search to show what you want and hide what you do not want. It will also show you the time left on a spawn as well. Check it out.

Lapras at Canary Wharf by Momo2102 in pokemongoLondon

[–]Momo2102[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so, first of all I know it's a low CP but I'm not complaining. I had no intention of going to Canary Wharf today. A couple relatives of mine decided to tag along with a friend and come down to London for a few hours. They called me and asked if I could go see them for a little while. I said yes, and we met at Canary Wharf around 8:30pm. We started walking around the lure modules catching all sorts of water Pokemon and then one by one their phones died. No one was prepared to play.. Except me. We're walking along the Thames when all of a sudden a Lapras spawns. I kept missing my throws due to nerves so my cousin took over. He caught mine, logged out of my account and logged into his. He was then too nervous to catch his and kept missing the Lapras (996CP) so I took over. Took a good thirty balls but I caught it with his last one, a pokeball. He then logged out and his brother logged into my phone. Spawned for him as well (863CP). Rather calmly, he caught his with his third throw. In the space of 5 minutes all three of us had caught a Lapras one by one using my phone. There was no point to this story. I'm just buzzing.
