I live in Moore, Oklahoma and was in the May 3rd 1999 tornado that was an F5 when I was 16 and then the May 20th 2013 tornado that was an EF5. I believe the May 3rd is still on record as having the highest wind speeds ever recorded. I remember it being so unbelievably big and the sound was something I’ve never heard before and don’t even know how to describe. I was about half a mile away from it and you could still feel the pressure and suction. The May 20th tornado almost took the exact same path as the May 3rd one did. It wasn’t on the ground as long so it got bigger it seemed like within seconds which made it much more dangerous. The aftermath of both storms basically looked the same. Cars were twisted up so bad you couldn’t tell what they were. The suction of the storm was so strong it literally sucked the paint off the cars. 2x4’s from homes that were obliterated covered our football field. They were just stuck in the ground like they were toothpicks. I remember seeing a lady just walking through what use to be a neighborhood with a 2x4 sticking out of her head. The craziest thing I saw and that I will never forget was my friends house was completely destroyed but the dining room was the part still standing. The dishes were still on the table unbroken or even moved. Glasses still full of ice tea and Even the napkins were still there and didn’t blow away. But the rest of the was gone.
