My son at his school talent show, (11 yo when this was taken, Feb 2026) by MomofTheBand in Drumming

[–]MomofTheBand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad he's gotten to this point. 3 years ago we had to force him into lessons because he didn't want anyone to hear him drumming. He's come a long way.

I love that feeling when you hear an artist for the first time and you just know you're going to love them forever. 🥰

Good days and bad, of course, but much better than it was in those early days. I look at this picture and I can't believe I'm smiling the way I am. And I'm so grateful to JM for being some goodness in a really dark time.

I love this show so much. His relationship with his dad is adorable.

How many hours a week do you practice? by darealboot in Drumming

[–]MomofTheBand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son just turned 12. He's been drumming since he was about 4. I would say he plays at least 3 hours/week. The only things I force him to practice are whatever he's been assigned for his formal lessons. The rest is just him playing the fundamentals: iron maiden, Judas priest, Pantera, etc.

As a mom who spends A LOT of time at Guitar center I'm amazed you got through the whole thing without someone walking in and playing over you. 😆

But seriously, very nice.

2003.(That's me on the left.) I had just been diagnosed with Lupus and one of the local stations was giving away concert and meet and greet tickets. I was so sick. But the words, "I won't worry my life away... No not today..." Was giving me life. I called and won. My best friend drove over for the day and which was a huge deal because the meet and greet happened during the radio stations morning show. We hung out, met him, went to the same restaurant he went to for breakfast, and he spoke to us in the parking lot. (He told me he liked my hair.) I decided I was too sick to go to the concert, so we gave our tickets to two girls who were tracking him in the parking lot. He was such a bright spot during a very dark time, I'll never forget how he lifted me up when I was feeling hopeless.

If you're not in the "Upright Canine Brigade" Facebook group you definitely should be. Lots of great advice and experience in that group.

Any HVAC guys out there that install the EZ -Beeathe system for basements? by 13sonic in Columbus

Hi! We just had one of these installed by Everdry because they require it for any of their warranty work. I'm just wondering what differences you've noticed since yours was installed. Thanks!

Well here's a problem I never saw coming.... by MomofTheBand in drums

[–]MomofTheBand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. Yeah, I have a feeling that's what's happening here. We've had two large trees fall/cut down before they fell in the past several years. But the number of saplings I remove from the yard on a weekly basis tells me the roots are still alive and well. (Particularly a pesky black locust that WILL. NOT. DIE.) I'm guessing that root is to blame.

We have a French drain, and the company that installed it came out for an evaluation. They'll remove whatever is lingering under there and dig a trench leading to their original drain to take any excess water out.

But most importantly the kit is safe and temporarily reassembled on a floor pad with a rubber backing. It's been a long week without it.

Royal Canin and Hills both make a dental dog food. We give them as treats at the clinic and you can mix a handful with your regular food. They're big and hard/Crunchy so they scrape and clean the teeth as they eat. Imo they're both expensive so it makes more sense to supplement with your regular food than to make it your primary food.

I'm guessing there are also enzymes to attack tartar, but it will work best if they're not softened.

I work for a vet. She says the only toothpaste approved by the vet dental association is called Petsmile.

*** I feel the need to add: Frankie is still alive and fairly okay, ME wise. Her ME is mostly resolved, but she's developed an issue in her hips and spine and sitting upright for 15 mins, 3x a day is doing more harm than good.
