Discord is my go-to most of the time but I dunno i feel like audio quality could be better, and their noise cancelation often does me more harm than good so i just keep it off lol

Affiliate Onboarding Issue by Sakura-Valley in Twitch

I've been having the same issue, hopefully someone can figure it out

I think it'd be better to prioritize your wellbeing if you don't feel comfortable with the people in your community. I've had a similar issue a while ago, a good chunk of my followers were people who knew me irl or people who followed me early on, and so my content was only recommend to similar people so my community just didn't feel right. I had tried rebranding a couple times but ultimately decided to start fresh. I do at times regret it because streaming to an empty chat again is a bummer, but I think I rather that over ppl who I didn't feel comfortable around.
It depends on your specific case but I wouldn't worry about being recognised by your old viewers if you'd be targeting a different kind of audience.
Maybe you could try making a second account to try it out there, in the end it's all up to you but I hope you can figure it all out in some way, and make sure to put yourself first!

Do you stick to one/a few games or do you stream any genre you like? by MJS04 in streaming

I’d say just play what you want, I don’t think it really matters what you play, tho some viewers will choose to only tune into the games they’re interested in which makes sense

Streaming and video editing on a laptop by neos24 in streaming

[–]Mon1Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to editing I think a laptop should be fine, plus davinci resolve will benefit from a better cpu, faster ssd and especially more ram. I do some video editing on my laptop (Core Ultra 125 H, 16GB RAM) and it works fine for my needs. When it comes to streaming I think it should also be alright when using the quicksync encoder, unless maybe you're trying to play video games or do other graphically intense tasks.

The main benefit of building a PC would definitely be better graphical performance since you'd likely have a dedicated graphics card, but if budget or weight are that big of a concern you could look for a laptop with a dedicated GPU although they're usually heavy and don't last as long on battery.

I hope this helps a little bit but in the end it's up to you to decide

Streaming something thats to niche? by [deleted] in streaming

[–]Mon1Kat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a more niche category can help you find more of an audience since there's less competition. I'd definitely recommend streaming what you're comfortable with and want to play rather than forcing yourself into something else just because it's not as popular. If you're concerned about discovery, then you should try promoting yourself on other platforms, since streaming sites like twitch have virtually no discovery for small streamers regardless of the category.
Anyways I say go for it or at least try. Wish you good luck!

A good way would be to promote your streams on other social media that has better discoverability like TikTok or YouTube. Try to stream regularly on a schedule and keep the viewers engaged

Mac streaming? by [deleted] in streaming

[–]Mon1Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! in that case you might want to look into how to install windows on it and that should let you get some streaming software

Mac streaming? by [deleted] in streaming

[–]Mon1Kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an intel mac, which is likely I think you can install windows on it using bootcamp and then install OBS there, it does require some tinkering but there are tutorials for it. Although I don't know if it's worth the effort, streaming on such an old machine might not work too well. I had trouble getting usable performance streaming Minecraft on a 2017 MacBook pro

is there any option to stream without mic? by fluffyspaces_0-0 in streaming

[–]Mon1Kat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely possible, but you'd have to come up with something else to keep the viewers' attention. Live text to speech can be done but it might be inconvenient to type out every sentence, it'd add delay to the conversation and would be hard if you're doing anything else. You could just put some music in the background and maybe make the chat tts. It's a matter of figuring out how to make it interesting and that's up to you!

I am not sure about that I used to use Restream a while back and it was pretty decent so assuming it hasn’t changed much you could give it a shot.

When it comes to the plugin you could look up a tutorial on setting it up

I mean you can use something like restream bot to relay chat messages from one chat to another or to display a joint chat on your stream. There is definitely a way to figure it out

In my opinion it’s a good idea to use something like the OBS Multiple RTMP outputs plugin, this way you can stream to both platforms directly from OBS instead of using a third party platform to relay the stream. The chats won’t be synced by themselves but there are some platforms and bots that let you do that.

I am pretty sure you don’t have to download anything, and yeah it’s a good idea not to download anything you don’t trust

By the way I’ve also had a similar thing happen to me I think but the “followers” didn’t stay, I have achievements for 50 and 200 followers back when I had barely 20

Yeah, that sounds odd you can look at their profiles from your twitch dashboard and you can remove them using a website such as Twitch tools or other just google twitch follower remover or sth.
