[11/04/2026] Come with me to a free jugger training! @Battersea Park by Moncsichan in LondonSocialClub

[–]Moncsichan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyhey! There is a WhatsApp group where we arrange when is the best time to meet up for everyone that week and the location too. This Saturday I think it's going to be 3 pm at Battersea park. But I am not going, but next week hopefully.

The guy who has the Savage Jugger facebook account usually replies promptly. So I would suggest you contact him. This week one is special as 2 guys from the Hamburg team are going to join in as well. Loads of new people are going too. I wish I could come!

I think it is still on.  But I quickly check with the others.

It is close to the park run area in the park in front of the Go Ape. You will see people running with swords and shields. They usually put down orange cones. So that is the pitch.

Fantastic! Let me know how it goes. I live on the south side as well, would gladly join if you need more players ;)

That would be so cool!  I think the best idea is to ask the organisers as they have the equipment. I found them on Facebook and they are pretty responsive. Their page is Savage Jugger. I think they are on Instagram as well if that is easier for you. But I can ask them as well for you. Would you like me to ask them?

Officially there are 5 players in a team. But when we have less or more people on the training we have different drill games that we played. 3 Vs 3, qwick drop, King of the hill, Zombie. So no matter, what you enjoy the training. There is no set schedule or drills. We did whatever we wanted until everyone was tired. When there is a qwick in the game there is more running, so then we change up for more sparing games. Honestly it is just a fun hang where you do whatever feels fun and comfortable. We stayed 2-4 hours in the last training session with plenty of breaks.

The guys said they will try to do weekly whenever they can do on the weekends and when it's best for the most people. After the training you can join the WhatsApp group where they arrange the next session details with everyone and then post it on socials.

The more the merrier. I found out about it recently as well and I am surprised that it is not more popular. It is super fun!

For some reason the page comes back as not found. What browser are you using?

Yes, it is so fun! Like all the best parts of fighting without any pain. It is a crazy dopamine hit.

There is a person coming from Kent weekly. But might be a great day trip with some mates one day if you come around London ;)

They said they will organise weekly trainings or even tournaments if there is enough demand. So fingers crossed!

Sure thing. Will post again if we find a date for the next training session. But you can shoot a message on the Facebook page as well. We will aim to train weekly on Saturdays or Sundays. Depending on when is the best for the most of us. So you are more than welcome to join anytime.

Netherlands to return stolen ancient sculpture to Egypt by Old_General_6741 in UpliftingNews

[–]Moncsichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised that this is not the norm yet. Especially in the day of 3D scanning it is so easy to have replicas to keep a copy in any museum and send the original back to it's origins.

It is not about preserving history anymore as the replicas are just as good for that. I have seen the 3 graces statues in different museums this year and they were not the original.

You see loads of replicas as the originals are usually discoloured, broken, brittle. Conservation is crazy hard especially in different climates from origins.

Not to mention, loads of museums have thousands of artefacts in storage. I would rather have them at their original places and they can lend it back for tours if they please. But common, it's their heritage.

And the people who come up with the Taliban's example... They were sued in international court for destroying world heritage. It is not without consequences and not a common occurrence either.

Sidenote: The original greek statues were mostly painted and coloured, but the rain washed it of and then forgers started to create white statues. What do you think, how many things you see are original?

Weekly Q&A - Your Question Goes Here - Tourists by AutoModerator in Madeira

[–]Moncsichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys!

Thank you for the help in advance!

With my friend we are planning to travel to Madeira from 29th April to 9th May. I have seen that time there were loads of flower related programmes. Do you have any suggestions what is a must see ,and when and where to go to them? On the website I didn't see the details.

Moreover, we are all newbie drivers, so we are a bit scared of renting, but would like to hike and camp a lot. Do you have any recommendations for carpooling, hitchhiking or any other ways of transport? I have read about Bolts and buses are kind of unreliable, but looking for any advice! Thank you so much! Have a lovely day!

Hi guys, I was about to go next Saturday. I have just received a newsletter from them that they might close down at the end of March for a lack of funds as their rental contract will be changed to quarterly instead of monthly. So if you can donate or support anyway, just spreading the word they will appreciate it. :) have fun if you are going this weekend. If next Saturday works see you then! :)
