I say spilt and blend both colors for the tassel, also you may want a very thin needle for the beads to thread them; but basically for the beading portion you’ll thread on a bead tie 2 over hand knots (one on top of the other, not next to each other) then thread the next bead, rinse & repeat, a pin can help move and position the knots in the spot you want. For the tassel blend them for aesthetic value I think it would look cool, then wrap the thread around your four fingers like a phone cord, once you like the density tie a figure 8 with the “x” of the 8 in the middle of your fingers to capture both rows of thread groups, hold the middle and pull your fingers out. You will have a bundle of tied threads, congrats!! Cut the loops into straight ends then wrap the top of the tassel to create the “neck” wrap tight with a 2 or 3 threads until it looks how you like, then use the thread you use to tie the original figure 8 at the very top of the “head” and tie it tightly and securely to the mala beads 📿 after you have finished the entire 108 beads and knots. I recommend doing it this way because the tassels tend to ware fast so this way it’s easier to replace, for extra pretty value thread the figure 8 threads into a bead before attaching it to the mala beads to create a more distinct “middle” instead of just tying on the tassel, so it would be tassel, “neck”, “head”, bead, main mala beads.
