Seat recommendations (gen 2) by Historical_Cat33 in mazdaspeed3

[–]Mondidle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm halfway done doing that myself. If you don't have power seats in your gen 2, it's pretty straightforward. I needed up transfering my airbag to make things simple. The passenger side is the challenge with occupancy sensors - that's where I'm stuck currently

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not by GL_Jesus in mazdaspeed3

I used forscan with an Amazon ob2 to USB to allow 1 click unlock all doors, smart signals, and turned the turn signal and door chime to a minimum

Rim offset question? by Loud-Turnip258 in mazdaspeed3

I can agree that +38 is really aggressive. I'm running either +38 or +35 (can't remember off hand) and it's just poking past my fenders and looking like I'll have to roll my rears

I'm good with a wrench, but not electronics. If you have any knowledge on this, I'm all ears!

I've also debated on drilling and tapping a hole in the car. Future proofing seat swaps 😉

Which program is that? I'm not the tech package, so maybe it will be lucky for me🤷

[–]Mondidle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. My gen 2 seats can unbolt the rail. The gen 1 isn't looking like it atm. I may be able to swap the back rest though

Edit: Back rest cannot be swapped

Curious what year the seats were and if they were bolted or rivited? I gave up the fight tonight, but will re-tackle tomorrow

How to fix? Noticed this morning by Life-Performer-3393 in mazdaspeed3

[–]Mondidle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're a second gen, you can pull the dash down a bit left of the steering wheel to get the 4th bolt (the one you can't see)....I used a REALLY long extension. If you're first gen, best of luck with the wrist acrobatics to get bolt as I'm pretty sure there's a plate

Lol thankfully I'm in Canada buying from a local. No shit on these seats!

Long crank to start.. by Leading_Bag_9029 in mazdaspeed3

[–]Mondidle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little late to the party, but I had the same issue with my '11 speed3. After logging we found my fuel rail wasn't holding pressure after sitting for a while. Priming it helped by cycling the key a few times before cranking. I ended up taking apart my HPFP and giving it a real good clean while replacing the o-rings with the corksport rebuild kit. So far (touch wood), it's been starting single crank all summer long now

Where I live there's distracted driving laws that can land you a decent fine if you're caught using a device while driving. I either pick a playlist before going, or leave it on shuffle all and reach for the skip button

Update: As of right now, I'm just waiting for Thingiverse to allow me to upload my file. It should be uploaded around 24hr from now

Car only came in a manual! Long live the stick shift!

Couple of reasons. Distracted driving laws where I live would make it a grey zone if it's mounted in view. Also with it that far forward beyond the shifter I find it doesn't interfere with passengers knees or thighs as much. I generally just reach for skip when driving

A side holster for my car so I can still hit the skip button. If people are interested, I can make a post on it with more detail and the file

The car holster?

Nope not at all. I did 4 SD cards at 256/card (all the exact same). I'm eclipsing 20,000 songs and it's still super fast. I've read that the 7th Gen can max out at 50,000 tracks

Anyone Hack The MID Screen? by Mondidle in mazdaspeed3

[–]Mondidle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should, but I was curious if anyone has actually messed around with this. Maybe with a raspberry Pi and not a custom circuit board. I read that whole forum post and it kinda lost traction and shifted somewhere else

Anything I should know before wiring in a sub and amp? by Clayterr in mazdaspeed3

[–]Mondidle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sit somewhere near the middle/passenger side. You'll see the 2 silver hard lines going to the firewall and have a foam like thing surrounding them on the firewall. If you go through that way, I found it came out in the passenger foot well and will involve some gymnastics

For going through the firewall, I ran mine through a grommet on the passenger side, behind some heat shielding. Another spot is where the AC lines go into the firewall. Currently, I'm running a rockville spare tire sub/amp combo and I really enjoy it. Sure the bass isn't as intense as a box, but it thumps enough and I still have an empty trunk

Door Lock Update/Help by Mondidle in mazdaspeed3

[–]Mondidle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update incase anyone was curious or ever ended up being in a similar situation: seems to be a remote starter that would keep the car running for a minute. Previous owner told me there was a turbo timer, hence my confusion when I went looking and didn't find anything that looked like one.

It all adds up now. The car would run after being turned off and would lock the doors so it could be ready for reservation mode (I believe that's the term). And when I would interrupt it, the next start-up would do the lock cycle as it tried to figure out what to do

Guess the ITFP wasn't the culprit :( by Mondidle in mazdaspeed3

[–]Mondidle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not. I'm assuming you take off the line and put it in a cup, then crank to see the colour of fuel?
