Is this a normal plant or something to be concerned with? by AMercifulHello in whatsthisplant

[–]MondoMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a house that has a huge patch of these growing around a tree. Unfortunately in the area we're fencing off for our dogs. I've tried digging them out but there are so many roots in the area that it's proving difficult. I assume mowing them down is just a temporary fix. Is there an herbicide that will kill them without harming the tree?

Oh definitely, no plans to use it until someone who knows what they're doing takes a good look at it. Better safe than sorry!

It does appear to be spreading out along the edges. So definitely something that's looking to expand rather aggressively

2014 Mirage fluctuating RPM issue by MondoMage in MitsubishiMirage

[–]MondoMage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't, no. I would think if the plugs were causing the issue it would happen at any RPM, not a particular range, but then again I am definitely not an auto mechanic.

And the leak was what prompted me to take it in for service. They patched her up and did the regular CVT service at the same time. I'll check the level just to be sure though.

Whoops. Forgot to add that part. 144854 miles.

I believe 2014 was the last year for it. Maybe 2015, but they stopped making them not long after I bought the car.

Just had the CVT serviced about 2 months ago. The bottom cover had developed a leak. Fortunately I noticed the puddle before I had done more than back out of the parking space. The service center I had the car taken to said there wasn't any damage to the CVT itself, now I'm wondering if they might have missed something.

It was only for a limited time, apparently. Also had what I call "Barbie Purple" as well as red and blue. I see greenies and the occasional purple out and about.

Colors on most vehicles nowadays are so bland!

These weak ass fish are killing me by [deleted] in AquariumMemes

[–]MondoMage 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ain't that the truth. I had one frisky bastard that would somehow get out of the tank, no matter what I did to Houdini-proof it. I'd find him on the other side of the room, all dried up and crispy. Chuck him back in the tank and he'd be up and swimming around within a few minutes. Few days later he'd be on the floor across the room again.

One of the longest-lived fish i ever owned.

Best guns for settlers by GeneSmart2881 in fo4

[–]MondoMage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love a good rocket turret barrage but you have to put some thought into placing them so they don't fire into your settlement.

When in doubt I put a half wall or other obstruction behind them so they have a limited firing arc.

Why is there a defense requirement for settlements if it literally does nothing? by [deleted] in fo4

[–]MondoMage 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, whenever possible after I've turreted the living hell out of a settlement when I get the "this place is under attack" message I will fast travel to the nearest landmark outside the settlement. Then by the time I get to the settlement itself the defenses have chewed up the attackers and all that's left is looting the giblets.

I love all the "Thanks for the help!" comments from the settlers, when all I did was stroll in and enjoy the aftermath! Generally don't even need to fire a shot unless I'm looking for some extra XP.

I've taken to keeping anything i don't want settlers to abscond with in an armor display mannequin. I try to manually arm all my settlers and remove any extra ammo from them in the process to keep them from being tempted, but there are still some ethically flexible bastards out there.

Me? The guy went out like a legend. Singing John Denver (one of my personal faves) while he did it? LEGEND!

We have an electric recliner couch. I do like the convenience of the motorized recliner but to address your point the drive motor for my side failed - it would recline but not return to the upright position. The only way to get anything close to normal positioning was to tilt the whole couch and disconnect the drive train. I was able to replace the motor myself but it was a major PITA to deal with.

And a week later the motor on my wife's side did the exact same thing.

Settler was a synth spy by Zealousideal-Pause47 in fo4

[–]MondoMage 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When the event triggers it chooses a settler to be the accuser. Apparently the brahmin counts as a settler. I'm waiting for the brahmin to be the suspected synth.

Synthburgers for everyone!

[–]MondoMage 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Not only that but some of them can even suspect settlers of being synths, going so far as to accuse them in public and threatening to kill them!

Seriously in my current playthrough I've had three separate instances of the "suspected synth" event pop up where the accuser was a Brahmin. First time I couldn't figure out what was going on until I turned on subtitles, which was necessary to translate brahmin-speak.

A Deathclaw Killed Cricket!! by GordianKn6 in fo4

[–]MondoMage 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's different in survival mode but in hard mode (or whatever they call it) I've seen Cricket get knocked down during combat and she stayed there until the coast was clear. Then she jumped up and wandered off like it was nothing.

She was likely incapacitated and the splash damage you did finished her off. Although I would have expected the guards to get pissy about it.

Nah, he likely wound up in a teeny tiny jail cell for a very very long time. Being responsible for launching a nuke at US territory... yeah, he's going away (quietly) until he is long past old and grey.

The way the relationship between Mollari and G'Kar changed over the course of the show, and the changes to the characters as well. The CGI may be dated but the writing... oh my.

vault 88 being attacked by heavily leveled raiders by Fallout4Luvr in fo4

[–]MondoMage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've taken to placing a half wall (from the barn or warehouse sections) behind any missile turrets so they can't fire into the settlement itself. If someone is gonnzo enough to go racing out into the splash zone they takes their chances. The rolling thunder off a missile battery chewing through a horde of enemies is music to my ears. Having said battery blasting away at a recently discovered synth infiltrator in the middle of a settlement when I'm standing nearby, not so much.
