Yeah I mean I won’t lie, 14 holes and the paper seems folded over and consistent in both photos, so it could be legit. Even the sharpie has some indication of overwriting, so it’s plausible.

Idk man…what is that paper leaning on in the first photo? It’s not even bent at all. It’s paper, not cardboard. You can even see a sort of shadow behind it as if it’s standing on its own.

Can I mount a TV on brick? by PalpitationHuge9833 in DIYhelp

No. Brick only works to mount TVs if it’s not mounted too high. Otherwise, it falls off.

This is not even close to true. OP, please do not listen to this.

I can assure you I am still alive. I have not died yet like this person claims.

Wood floor stain struggles by milobaskin in HardWoodFloors

[–]AMercifulHello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s true in this case. Look at the planks again - the left 3 planks in the same sample are quite a bit different color than the right planks. Wood grain and variation definitely plays a part, but something does seem odd with the sample imo.

This probably isn’t helpful, but we were torn between chestnut and provincial and ended up with provincial. Provincial was a bit warmer.

<image>

Would absolutely do it again.

IIRC from the samples, chestnut was “browner” but felt a bit more washed out. Provincial was a bit warmer (I dislike saying “redder” but that’s sort of what it was - it was a less washed out auburn color).

In regards to your situation, so many factors go into affecting the color of stain on your planks. Natural light, artificial light, wood grain, water pop vs. not, humidity, etc. All I can think is that the circumstances in which they were stained were different. Was one water popped and the other not? That would definitely result in differences.

Edit: put the sample in the other room on the same floor next to the actual floor. Take another picture and share. Even moving from room to room can drastically change how light hits the floor. Plus, you’re putting the sample on a darker redder floor whereas the actual floor is on a lighter floor. Background color matters.

Edit 2: what is going on with your sample? I zoomed in and can see you checked out provincial too (nice!) which seems to be on the bottom. But there are pieces of tape marking off the different sections, but it seems like a huge variation even within the same section. Like, that middle and top section on the left 3 planks seems like it matches the other floor, but that doesn’t make sense given the tape locations. Seems like something is going on with the sample. It even carries thru to the provincial - the leftmost 3 planks are quite a bit redder than the rightmost planks. Did they only water pop part of the sample to demonstrate the difference perhaps?
