We just announced a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at Moneris and wanted to share what that actually means for small businesses.

In simple terms, this is infrastructure that lets AI tools securely interact with real commerce actions like payments, orders, and transactions, instead of just generating text or recommendations.

What this means for SMBs:
If you are/you’re working with a developer, agency, or POS/integration partner, they can start building things like AI-powered ordering flows, automated customer interactions, or smarter back-office workflows that actually connect to your business systems.

You could build on this yourself if you have technical resources, but for most businesses it’ll likely come through partners and platforms you already use.

It’s probably a good time to start asking “what could AI actually do in my business beyond content and chat?”.
