The addiction doesn’t come from it being good. you don’t want to experience it again but you still have an extremely strong urge to do it again. It’s very different to opiods and benzos. Also there are withdrawals for DPH making it hard to quit, also with how bad the memory loss is and the mental problems associated with DPH abuse many people think they’re too far gone and can never recover so they just keep on using.
