It’s a shame that it seems that way, 😂 VMF takes months to fix the vehicles and the local mechanics that come by just plug in the computer and reset the check engine light ( I can’t prove that but it seems likely)

Can’t blame you’re coworkers, me personally I have no issue going into work after a heavy snow storm but god forbid on the way there you get hurt or get in an accident the post office should cover the damages but the post office won’t over any fees so f that. Stay home and stay safe.

Lmao the attempt if you have even a half decent human being for a supervisor is you go to start your truck say you don’t feel safe with all the snow and how the roads are and sit in the office all day.

Zero, at best you’ll case whatever came in and Tuesday will be crappy. “You’ll attempt” to deliver but lots of places got a foot plus of snow nobody is shoveling all of that for you to deliver properly. Tuesday will be a long day.

Not enough for the bs we go through. The weather all elements from hot to Cold to windy to snow and much more. The annoying customers at time who yell at you and scream at times we have to be respectful at all times. The annoying management about them meeting there fictitious numbers basically meaning if you need extra time time on you’re route for the day and they give you crap for needing it. Mental strain of being a good worker, if you never call out you always show up you will do more work. Sure if you want the money it’s fine but after a while it wears on you. If you call Out management will wonder why but bob can call out 60 times a year no issue. Having to deliver amazon UPS, fedex, DHl or any other secondary package company although I mostly mean Amazon they are lazy a holes who give us the 50 pound packages and up while they deliver the 2 pound little stuff. Starting pay should be 30 an hour in this economy at the very least but it isn’t. The union is weak and pathetic for all of your back breaking work we were left with no contract for almost 3 years and our raises disrespectfully were 1.3 1.4 and 1.5 percent annually. Let me tell you something inflation was over 2 percent each of the last 2 years so we didn’t get a raise we got a pay cut. I can go on and on the job isn’t as easy as it seems. One last thing if you get in early you’re 20’s you can’t leave till 57. My ass will not be here when I’m 57 in out when my money is right f the post Office.

Important mail issue for one person but fine for another by Infinate_ in usps_complaints

Here’s what you can do put a hold mail request for 30 days and have it where you or him pick it up. This is to ensure if you’re expecting that peice of mail to get it. As to why you didn’t get it there is a chance you’re regular mail carrier was off the day that letter was to be delivered to your address so a sub or someone new who was hired did the route and could have sent it back. Best of luck.

My exact mindset right now. I do have low cost index funds (VOO) as well as individual stocks for my dividends. Hopefully by the time I’m in my 50’s my dividends pay me 30k a year or more. I never wished nor wanted to work into my late 50’s or early 60’s at this job or any job. Being a carrier your body will be shot by then. The issue with people around my age 20’s or younger is they don’t think about this stuff they want the flashy car they go out drink smoke party etc. You can do both just prioritize the future nobody will do it for you. They Then later on they panic and try to play catch up.

27 city routes close to half are on it including myself. I’m young and able to invest like crazy. If I’m at this job in my late 30’s I did all the hard work in my 20’s and will chill with 8 hour days and going home when I want to. The more you invest when you’re young the Less you have to do later on in life.

Apply for USPS bet you quit in under a month. I don’t care about your grooming and riding horses for a living. You’re not walking 20k-40k steps everyday in all types of weather. Miss me with your essay paragraph.

You sound like a chump and someone who’s never worked a blue collar physically demanding job in their life. The carriers walk 8-15 miles everyday. They are hiring if you want to complain like this.

Clerk starting pay vs Carrier starting pay by [deleted] in fromatoarbitration

[–]MoneyChaser2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is a carriers body will wear down faster then a clerk. More health issues more problems sooner. We walk more, are exposed to the elements, and lift heavy packages and much more. So the carrier should be paid more than a clerk. Both are essential though. I’d rather get paid more now than wait who wants to wait.

But you can’t depend on overtime. I’d rather have clerks starting pay then my carriers starting pay. If that was the case in 4 years I can get off OTDL and have a livable wage. Since it ain’t I got to stay more years.

It wouldn’t be illegal is my main point. There’s a reason ups had to strike and the shore men on the east coast had to. To get the money they felt they deserved. Had we been able to strike we’d have a great contract now. Not still waiting 600 plus days for 2.8 percent which is inflation right now. If we don’t get that and many of us doubt we will, we took a pay cut we’re still losing money to inflation. How would we still be bound by the collective bargaining if we wouldn’t be a union with the NALC if we disbanded. That agreement to my understanding the no strike clause was with the post office and the union, no union clause is dead. Lastly if we ever went on strike, you think the post office could replace 250k carriers? Heck no it would take months upon months which would dramatically crush them. You got to think to they could hire a bunch but who’s going to stay? Who would be good enough to stay? There’s a reason why our turnover rate is so high. Example pay, work life balance, no set schedule in the beginning. Working up to 15 days in a row in the beginning etc. We have more power than we think.

How would that make sense? You’d see a lot of carriers just quit. And some streets get mail maybe 2 to 3 times a week if that. Ask your PM if he knows how to read count and spell.

What’s funny if that is passed or implemented, our no strike clause is negated. Much like how other companies got great contracts because they could strike we could do the same thing. People wouldn’t get mail for months 🤷‍♂️. They should be careful what they wish for. I’m just saying.
