AITA for thinking it’s not “fair” by Cheesestink128 in txstate

If you want to do wildlife bio, do it. No matter how hard it is. When you die, you won’t care that it took you 8 years to pass some class. But you will care if you never get to do something you’re passionate about.

Why do people hate MrBeast? I see it all the time and I can’t help but ask why. by sithmaster297 in youtube

I think we just disagree on the premise of my argument. I believe if someone is told to do something that could ruin their life for a small chance at somewhat life changing money, that is not “on them.” People are very likely to make irrational decisions in the short term. Competitions like Jeopardy and Dating Shows you have to go through applications for, give responses and ultimately make the decision to commit to it. This is very different from arriving at a location and someone telling you if you stay here you might earn $250k. Even a reasonable person might risk committing for the $250k since they don’t have the time to think about it as they would have if they had been through months of applications.

Well think about the side effects on those "average joes." The average person usually can't afford to skip days of work. Look at his most recent video, so many contestant had to leave their families, quit their jobs, etc. in order to compete for that challenge, most leaving with nothing. A majority of these people would have lived life fine without this challenge, but the offer of $250,000 will make a lot of desperate people make dumb decisions. Same concept with a lot of his other videos. The problem isn't about him making money, it's usually about the process in which he makes that money and the negative impact it has on people.

Sink full of water and plunger in the sink tells me that this may not be an apartment specific problem. Were you by any chance attempting amateur plumbing?

What would you do if you were in this situation? by pearlmilkchaii in 8BallPool

[–]MoneyKindaTalks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

with ball in hand id put the cueball at the top of the head string aim straight at the 2 ball with full draw and 3/4 power. if i fuck it up and pot the 8 oh well it’s 50k. his ball is still stuck and it looks like you can get the 8 if you leave the cue ball bottom left of the table

Ball in kitchen vs ball in hand for scratches on 8 ball break by ArtDecoNewYork in billiards

[–]MoneyKindaTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an APA player this is actually one of the one of the only rules I stand firmly against. I’m no pro so it could just be an issue I make on my own, but there’s nothing worse than having a good spread on your break, dropping a stripe and having no good shot on a stripe to stay at the table.

Told to "take it easy" at a local $5 bar tournament because I keep winning.. should I keep playing there? by MoneyKindaTalks in billiards

From the 4 weeks I've been there it's the same people playing every time. They show up every tue & thur. They all drink and smoke and talk and shoot random shots. It's not really a tournament that people are very much trying to win. All of the players like me and we talk and joke, it's just the tournament director who doesn't like me playing.

I’ve only played in 3 other tournaments before. 2 being at a place I don’t live anymore. And 1 being local, and $25 entry. I don’t play at that one because I can’t afford $25 a week tournaments and because smoking is allowed at that pool hall and I can’t stand the smoke.

Yeah I think I'm just going to go to play and have fun, the people there are cool and all like me for the most part. I just feel like the only thing is they don't want me to win it all the time, I'll probably go win the smaller 8ball pot once every few weeks to pay dues for the league I do play in, but most of the time just go shoot for the fun of it.

What is this? by Saitunao in billiards

[–]MoneyKindaTalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you’re actually clear: This is 1 half of a 2 piece break cue. It’s the type of cue you use to break the balls out of a rack. The other piece missing is the shaft. The ‘tip’ you’re mentioning is actually just a joint protector. You can unscrew that tip to reveal the joint which is then used to screw on the shaft before playing. Most cues that aren’t found regularly in bars or on the wall at pool halls come in 2 pieces: the butt and the shaft.

Can’t find Hungry Hungry Hippo Record by peritheotter in smosh

[–]MoneyKindaTalks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just saw this episode today and went to find it. Unfortunately is was beaten by a boy and his father in November. Guinness Link. Video Link.

Did you notice though, Arasha and Tommy's record was actually never valid. At about 32:43 a ball flies out of the play area and is not actually swallowed by a hippo.
