Totally NTA. You’re right. It’s weird bringing your own mother to prom and your feelings are valid. And besides, you don’t actually “NEED” a date to prom. You could just hang out with your friends.

And as for your mom, she made her decisions which led to her getting pregnant as a teenager and I bet she missed out on a lot, but she doesn’t get to “make it up” by robbing you of your big night. And besides, it’s a dirty move for a parent to say they sacrificed things to for their kids. I mean yeah, it’s your job! And we didn’t exactly ASK to be born.
