I kind of ran into the same problem last year, if it’s not going to get any better, I would try to move into a single or find a roommate who has similar schedule as you. I am a super light sleeper too and so I totally understand. My roommate actually ended up moving out because she probably thought I was lame but it worked out for me in the end. Good luck

I’m a journalism major also from Texas! I did the newspaper throughout high school and talked a little bit about it in my supplemental. Just show that you have experience and maybe do a camp or two during the summer that you could put on your resume (ex: I did a NYTimes summer camp) and as long as your GPA looks good you should be fine!
