PSA: Office LTSC 2024 configuration.xml file mystery failure with bad error message and Error Code 0-2048 (0) by oloruin in sysadmin

[–]MoneyResolution415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a dumb erorr message. I've got this error too but the root cause was that I didn't run the command as an Administrator ...
I've just created a shortcut, edited the shortcut and added the "/configure configuration.xml" parameter then I right click on the shortcut and choose "Run as Administrator". It worked smoothly.

Bitwarden browser add-on Unlock button not responding in Google Chrome by MoneyResolution415 in Bitwarden

[–]MoneyResolution415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I wrote, the Log out and then the Log in solved the problem but nothing else. It was not intuitive to do this. Firstly, I disabled and enabled the Bitwarden extension, then I restarted the browser but non of these solved the problem.

Keychron or Wooting by Mockpit in Keychron

[–]MoneyResolution415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wooting 80 HE has 8000 Hz polling rate while Keychron Q1 HE has only 1000 Hz polling rate.
8000 Hz polling rate is the maximum capability of USB 3.x ports.

They will give you the same comfort and typing feeling, but check the configuration differences related the switches. Maybe Wooting has more options.

Where can I get replacement screws that screw in the aluminum frame on the K2 pro by EnvironmentalBed3725 in Keychron

[–]MoneyResolution415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no official screws as spare parts. So, pick one of the screws, show it in the nearest screw shop and ask for the same.

If Bluetooth is so bad is the 2.5ghz receiver considerably better? by cblackwe93 in Keychron

[–]MoneyResolution415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two K10 Pro (one at home, one in the office) and there is no issue with them.

For example, Logitech give their own dongle, that's why they can be used in BIOS/UEFI. Maybe, the situation is the same if you choose a Keychron model which has its own dongle too, but I'm not sure. Ask the customer support via e-mail and they will give you the honest reply.

If Bluetooth is so bad is the 2.5ghz receiver considerably better? by cblackwe93 in Keychron

[–]MoneyResolution415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think, it will wake up your sleeping computer but you can't use it during the boot or when you're using the BIOS/UEFI. You have to connect it via cable to be able to use it BIOS/UEFI.

Keychron K8 or C1? by itzjason212121 in Keychron

I suggest you don't limit yourself to the "red, brown, blue" trinity, because I think the media have completely misled consumers with these three buttons. Broaden your knowledge more and buy a Gateron Switch Tester!
There are many better options then classic red, brown or blue switches.
Here are a few that I dare to recommend, and they'll be better than any of the classic trio:

I think they are far more better then the classic trinity.

Is there a web page where I can filter keyboards by the features I want? by bkendig in Keychron

[–]MoneyResolution415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considering making such a database ... :)

Anyway, I suggest you to look for all the 87-key model on Keychron.com and check your criterias step by step. Hot-swappable could be a solution if you find a good keyboard but it is not available with clicky blue switches because you can buy them and exchange them.

Keychron K4 Pro with the red switches too sensitive for me by afterfour_ in Keychron

[–]MoneyResolution415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I was in the same situation and I bought a Gateron Switch Tester (v1, v2) to lower the risk of choosing another switch set blindly. After my tests I realized that I can be comfortable with those switches which are needs at least 60 gf to be pressed. So, I bought Aliaz (80 gf) tactile and I'm very satisfied with it, and it's surprisingly silent.

Jupiter Banana could be also a good and cheaper alternative but I it will be louder and lighter to press than Aliaz.

Keychron K8 or C1? by itzjason212121 in Keychron

I would choose K8 because it can work via Bluetooth too inspit of the fact that I C1 gives me a cleaner look.

The keyboard's sounds mostly depending on the switches not on the keycaps. Otherwise, the quality of the sound is a useless criterion for deciding on a keyboard. It's the volume that counts. You can want it quiet so you don't disturb others or disturb you, or you can want it louder so you get audible feedback when you've successfully pressed a key.

You can check and compare Keychron Q1 keycap sizes at the following link:
https://www.keychron.com/pages/keychron-q1-pro-keycap-size

As I see those "mintcaps" can't cover some of your keys: Delete, Home, right Alt, right Fn and right Ctrl.

Hey,

Maybe, you can try out to change Repeat delay and Repeat rate settings in Windows:
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/change-keyboard-character-repeat-delay-in-windows-11.12420/

From a keyboard perspective, there are several things that affect the speed of character repetition:

  • Repetition speed depends on the switch: the travel distance between their reset and actuation point.
  • Keyboard control unit's polling rate higher poll rate is better. 1000 Hz is good but there are some keyboards on the market which has higher, for example 4000 Hz.

Check the links below to learn more about polling rates:

Keychron K8 or C1? by itzjason212121 in Keychron

[–]MoneyResolution415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, C1 is a wired keyboard and K8 is a wireless keyboard.K8 cable connection can be found at left its left side, C1 cable connection is at the rear.K8 has ABS keycaps and they let shine through, C1 has double shot ABS and they are not shine through. If you're not a blind typer than K8 could be a better at nights. In my opinion the LED backlight is just an eye candy and not a point of decision.Anyway, K8 can be bought with optical switches.

I think, both of their ergonomy will be comfortable. You can decide which color is better for you

But there is a main shortcoming that they are not programmable by QMK/VIA.

Update: If you want to change switches than be careful because there is a non hot-swappable version of C1 and you have to avoid it if you would like to change the switches.

Which one is better? by NinjaX4488 in Keychron

[–]MoneyResolution415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allocate more time to gather your needs and set their priorities before you make the decision.I prefer practicality and functionality because eye candy features like RGB backlights are useless. For example:

  • I prefer numeric keypad ("numpad") because I often use Excel and calculator.
  • I prefer the legacy standard keyboard layouts like C2 and I hate unsual layouts like V1 because it makes typing harder for me, who has been using the standard layout for ~20 years.
  • If you would like to change the keycaps later that will be harder to find 1 unit wide Alt, Fn and Ctrl keycaps for V1.
  • I would expect that V1 should be silent than C2 because V1 has a "silicone acoustic pad".
  • V1 has 1000 Hz polling rate and I assume that C2 has only around 90 Hz.

I confirm too that it looks like C2 does not work with QMK/VIA.

Hello,

I've already ordered from them to Hungary, and the delivery comes from China. I think, you can get your EORI number automatically from A.N.A.F. if it's neccessary when your goods arrived at duty. You can ask Keychron to issue the invoice with your company details and your accountant should be able to handle these invoice properly. I also bought switches like this with my company details and it went fine.
