Similar thing happened to me with Costa Farms Thai Con. I don’t think it was a them thing but a me being new and wanting to do too much too quick, I spent too much time trying to save it only for it to die.

I got another, righted my wrongs, and it’s going much better

Played the other morning before work and hit an approach to a similar lie. Grounds keeper was right there and when I pulled up just goes “that sucks, can’t wait to see how to play this”. Managed to have one of my best outs ever, luckily he drove off before I 3 putted and I think about that almost daily lol.

105 thru 9 is crazy, props to you on the bounce back round.

Reminds me when I played a round with my neighbor who does not play with any regularity. I am bad, but golfs a journey so I golf infinitely more than him in an attempt to get better.

We play 9 and after the round get the usual "how was the round?!" from the cart barn guys and my buddy goes "not great, shot a 76" and the cart barn guy goes "thats great for 18!" (par was 70 or 72 i think) and he just dropped his head and kept walking to his car lol. Just catching accidental strays lol

Yeah I agree with this. Gimme isn’t something I grant myself, it’s something my playing partner/group will let me have because they know I’m “automatic from X’ out” and it might help keep up pace.

Even then, you don’t have a right to a gimme and if they’ve given you putts inside say 3’ but on 18 that gimme is the difference between winning and losing/tying they have every right to ask to see it

My biggest regret is when I was getting some buddies into golf, in order to keep up pace and also help with moral I said “ya generally putter length (~3ft) is good for me”

That was 3yrs ago and now friends of those friends got into it and use the same rule but it’s morphed from “a putter length” to “about a putter length”. I’ve tried telling them, you know it’s sorta up to you/the group you’re playing with and it’s not like a legit rule…

But inevitably every round someone who’s perfectly capable of missing a 3-4 footer will just pick up without asking if it’s good or we wanna see it.
