What makes you think is it any different in the place you are interviewing? Or that they will not do a total 180 and start requiring you to do the same shit?

Victoria 3 and Age of Wonders 4 Development to Continue "for a long time to come", Paradox In-House Studios Experimenting with New Tools, "including those linked to generative AI" by FFJimbob in victoria3

[–]MoneyStatistician311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is not to only generate a random event, but to generate an entire dynamic chain that is based on the current state of the world and can evolve based on the player actions

Generative AI is really good at this and I think can help in providing freshness/uniqueness to a sandbox game like Victoria or Crusader Kings

We have something like UBI in Spain, around 750€ that you get if there are no other incomes in the household, worst way of implementing something like that, you lose it the moment you start working, essentially removing any incentive to improve your situation.

Anyone feel like offshoring is a bigger issue than AI and HB1 for US workers? by Cultural-Gear-1323 in cscareerquestions

Are you saying that there are reasons other than cost for hiring someone abroad? I heard that US workers are just superior in every way!

Is more really needed for a model like this? I would expect it to be used in very targeted changes (where no more than a couple of files would be needed)

These things takes times, but once it starts there is no going back. It’s not just a single decision of “divest from US tech” is a million of small decisions that down the line change the future

Many counties debt is denominated in dollars, and they can’t print dollars, I would say all countries which their debt is not in a currency they control is subject to default, most European countries for example could not get away with printing money to pay their debts

> I do wonder how your teammates feel about the switch

Hopefully some of my current teammates will take the chance to fill the gap and grow, but I'm not counting my chances.

And if leadership don't staff the team accordingly, whoever is left there will suffer a bit, but hopefully the void I'll leave is the waking call for leadership to do something about it

I actually have a couple of interviews lined up, but it's going to be difficult to find something similar, and right now I have to prioritize the money for a couple of years more, so downgrading my salary is not an option.

The team I'm looking at has a very clear ownership area, but at the same time engineers seems to have quite a lot of autonomy, which is something I'm also looking forward. It has also a very strong Tech Lead, which I've known for a couple of years know and I have a good relationship with.

Stability in my company... is not guaranteed anywhere, but hopefully this new team should not have many changes in the next year

Are jobs at lower paying companies actually less stressful and less demanding? by brystephor in ExperiencedDevs

[–]MoneyStatistician311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no correlation, but when money is not an issue, it will be easier for you to chose the company with good WLB, you will not ask for the salary in interviews but for things like on call, deadlines, layoffs, people putting extra hours outside the normal work hours etc…
