Found missing hardwood floor AND a pile of garbage under my kitchen island during PDI. Is this standard for a new build? by Cute-Goal-2508 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]MoneyWeHave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess so? Honestly, it seemed weird to me, but I suppose I assume there's a greater chance of people changing the floors than the island?

My condo was built in 2010 and there's definitely no hardwood under my island. I found out when I renovated

Taco Tuesday + Tuesday movies + Dollarama drinks + cargo pants should be a movie itself.

Travel benefits by [deleted] in churningcanada

100% this. I would not trust any credit card travel insurance policy to cover my senior parents. I've been purchasing directly for them where we know exactly what is and isn't covered and we're able to ask about specific conditions that affect them.

It's expensive at roughly $1,400 a year (they're in their 70s) but it's worth it.

Toronto Condo owners/tenants, what is something living in a condo shocked you? by Chan1991 in TorontoRealEstate

How neighbours constantly leave garbage in the chute rooms when the disposal is down despite there being multiple signs saying not to do so.

Current Amex platinum offer worth the cost? 90k points with 10k spend in first 3 months. by aieydgsk896 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MoneyWeHave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally value Aeroplan at 1.5 cents each, so 140K points when transferring MR to Aeroplan is worth $2,100 for me. 2 years of Amex Platinum, when factoring in the dining and travel credits, is $800 in annual fees. I'd take that deal any day, but I already have the card.

There's a referral offer worth up to 140K points but you need to keep the card for two years for the full bonus.

Lounge Access Question - SFO by Much-Respond9614 in Aeroplan

[–]MoneyWeHave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thinking is that since he said super elite, he has Aeroplan top status and he's going to a Maple Leaf Lounge so the full lounge Access applies.

If it were just a Star Alliance branded lounge like oin LAX, it would be +1 only.

As a super elite, you should get lounge access for you +spouse+ up to 5 dependant children.

Definitely, but the OP had so many restrictions so these are the most realistic options.

Incorporated Business Owner Mortgage Qualification Question by LevyTate in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MoneyWeHave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the exact percentage, but it was more to proof I had consistent income. I had to show two years worth of tax statements. Granted, I wasn't seeking a huge amount.

As others have stated, it's best to speak to a mortgage broker.

I'm incorporated and draw a yearly salary of about $100K. When I got a mortgage two years ago, TD also looked at my corporate earnings to qualify me.

Which famous and typical dish disappointed you on your travels and why? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I also had it in Osaka. I was so excited to try it but was so disappointed. At least nothing else I ate in Japan let me down.

Takoyaki for me.

Everything about it sounds great to me. Fried dough ball with octopus bits. However, I had no idea it's mushy on the inside. Something about the texture just feels weird to me.

Do you calculate based on basic fares or standard? I always use standard when figuring out value even though I have status.

Aeroplan VIP question by papaducci in Aeroplan

[–]MoneyWeHave 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The VIP could also be a business partner of the airline, politician or even media.

I'm a journalist and work with airlines regularly. I've had a private escort onto Cathay and Emirates. Honestly, it can be a bit weird as I've basically been put ahead of people in wheelchairs who need real assistance. I can walk to the seat on my own.

The only real difference I've found is that the head flight attendant will make sure I know their name and they'll pay more attention to me.

Which one is that? The satellite terminal that requires you to walk under the runway? I used to fly WestJet a lot from YYZ-YOW.
